PPI Claiming

Whoever recommended using 'resolver' thank you very much!

Just got another load of ppi refunds come flowing through my door!

Now up to approaching £15k, brilliant start to the month

Congrats Will. Doubt I will get anything like your payout as I was always against ppi and refused to take it unless I got some hidden ones somewhere.

I don't recall actually ever using it, but I had so many loans, credit cards etc.. so I thought some might have slipped through!

How right I was

Another £2730 today, from the HSBC and another letter from them saying while I had a much larger loan that had PPI, they are not honouring his one because of a typo on the form. I think because the payout would be much larger, they're hoping I accept the amount on the other loan and move on, but I'm not. I've logged a complaint with the financial ombudsman. According to the FO HSBC are the most difficult about such things so I now see it as a personal challenge

To date(About 2 months) I've had about 15k which is sitting in my savings.
Got two more left, this other one from the HSBC which is worth about 10k I reckon and one from Britannia building society which is handled by RBS. Should be another huge one too.

Simply cannot believe I've received this much. 20 years of credit finally paying me back!!!!!!

Well after seeing your post, this is worth a shot as I've had loads of CCs and loans over the years. What did you put for the "tell us what happened when you took out the..." etc etc bit? I honestly don't know if I had it or not.

Wish i was stupid enough to have taken out loans and CC without reading the small print. Dam my paranoia.

I'm not sure if i feel jealous of all this money being paid out or thankful I didnt fall for any of it in the first place! I'm going with the later.

I sent back a load of paperwork to The Claim Guys quite a few weeks back now.. but haven't heard anything yet. I'm hoping its because they don't have enough paper & toner to print the massssssive figure i may be due.

How long does this part of identifying normally take?

We used a different company, but it can take a few weeks. It depends on how much digging has to be done. Some of our claims are only being finalised now, and we started back in April. Bizarrely, most of the companies the wife had claims against were resolved quite quickly (LLoyds and Barclaycard), a couple of mine have been dragging on since early April (Alliance & Leicester - now Santander, and NatWest). Who'd have thought keeping paperwork since 1998 could be so useful!!

I've only had one loan and I claimed on that. I've had about 10 credit cards and a HSBC overdraft, but don't remember any PPI with these. How might I have been charged it - bundled in with monthly statements etc?

Can anybody tell me how far back you can claim and what the interest is. I can only remember having PPI on a car loan about 20 years ago which was fraudulently sold to me. Even though it went to court and I won, I got nothing back. Long story: car dealer claimed payment would cover me for when and if I lost my job but didn't as it didn't cover fixed term contracts etc

First notification from Claims Guys that they have found PPI on an account. Details on the way to me. Wasn't even one of the ones I expected I had it on. I doubt it will be much but once I get details through I will do Resolver to claim. I claimed from an old HSBC loan I knew had PPI on it as I remembered being told I had to have it. Was easy to claim myself and got £2.5k for that years ago. Who knows what else will come up.

People that have successfully claimed, did you not know that you were paying PPI at the time? Is this only applicable to people who take loans without reading what they will actually pay back?

I had so many loans when I was younger, for high value items like watches, televisions, store cards etc.. I never really bothered to look into any of them, they were only ever for 6 months or a year so were settled before I ever took any notice :)

I've just started my next round of claims against my old natwest private accounts, hoping for some even chunkier stuff from them. Reason I never bothered before was it always required me to recall the details, which was always a huge stumbling block given I have zero organisational skills :p

If you didn't know you were paying PPI then there is your "immediate win" - they were not allowed to simply put it onto an account and not tell you.
If you did know it was there it is all about how it was sold to you. My tow largest reclaims were from NatWest from about 22 years ago. These were my very first bank loans and they told me "You can only have the loans if you also take PPI" - as this was MY bank telling me this I just assumed nobody else would even lend me the money so I accepted these "terms". However they were illegal terms and here I am 22 years later with a nice payment because of this.

So let me get this straight in my own brainbox, if I go to the claims guys website, fill in the little enquiry thing, they'll call me back, ask details such as addresses and which banks etc I've had dealings with. Then they'll send me forms to fill in which give my consent for them to investigate.

Once they've done that they send out filled in forms for me to look at detailing anything which had PPI on it and at that stage I can then simply use the info on those forms on the resolver site thingy and not have to pay a penny to the claims guys?

I've put in a claim with legal and general for mortgage protection spanning a good few years. It was originally taken out through a financial adviser, then changed over when we re-mortgaged.

Reading a few posts on various money sites, I'll be luckily to win my claim. My reason was that I was informed (and this is actually genuine) we would only be accepted for the mortgage if we took out the policy.

Legal and general could say that the claim should be towards the adviser, however not all the policies have the adviser listed as the policies all changed when we remortgaged.

There is an article on a newspaper site which is nigh on identical to our case. They initially rejected that claim but the paper got involved and had the decision overturned. Maybe lucky.

Absolutely.
They rely on a percentage (probably quite high) of their customers saying "ah sod it, you do all the work for me". To those people they charge 30% plus VAT (which if you really cannot be bothered to do the work is about the going rate) but the choice is entirely yours.

Excellent, I might as well give it a go, as far as I remember I turned down any payment protect type things in the past and not had a huge amount of loans etc though a couple of mortgages and insurance stuff you never know! :)
