**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

So Substratum now pretty much fully works on the S8 without root.

Following this guide: https://www.androidexplained.com/galaxy-s8-substratum/

You can get yourself a fresh new look to the phone and apps

It's a shame you gotta buy the addon for Samsung users, I've also bought Swift Black theme for Substratum (on the Play Store), the Swift Dark looked good, but black is best for AMOLED of course. Might try both.

Good thing I had a lot of funds left in the play store balance from surveys!

Thanks for the heads up. Using the swift black theme, looks great!

Well the phone has arrived and the seals were all intact. Just spent a few hours porting all my banking apps across and generally setting stuff up and playing around with it. Seems great so far though I prefer the Google keyboard on the nexus 6p.

Edit - which I've just downloaded from the play store :)

Congrats, enjoy! :)

I installed Nova launcher and the dark material theme on mine, looks a bit nicer then Samsung's stock interface to me, the whole swipe up for the app draw thing I just thought was weird.

Swipe up isn't a Samsung thing, it first came about from Google and is the default on Pixels and the like!

Who else is having home button issues?

Mine goes crazy when I light touch it. It's like the pressure sensor doesn't work

Mine occasionally goes mental in my pocket. Lock phone and put it in pocket then feel it keep buzzing as home button thinks it's been pressed. Phone remains locked but dialer is often activated. Turn it off and back into pocket and does the same again. Can keep doing this. I then reboot it and it settles down. Doesn't do it very often but annoying when it does.

I do have the option to keep phone turned off in pocket, set to on. Seems definitely the home button as at same time it's activating in pocket a single press of home button registers as multi presses. Like I said doesn't do it very often and as a reboot seems to clear it I wonder if it's a software issue with mine?

My wife & I are both end of contract at the end of this month, we currently both have an S5 and are looking to upgrade to an S8, without going through all of these pages...is it a good upgrade over the S5?

S8 is now 510EUR on eBay Germany if you sign up to Plus (similar to Prime), that's roughly 450 GBP.
now that's a deal. Although shipping is within Germany only.

substratum's just annoying. great concept but every time an app's updated it breaks and crashes the app a few times before disabling the overlay. then substratum gets updated, then the overlays work again, then the app gets updated and it breaks again.... it's worse if you are beta testing apps, naturally. I'm sure there's an option to disable it per app but I've not had the time to look at it properly so i just disabled it completely.

Can anyone reccomend a phone case for the S8+ that is as sleek as possible?

I hate having any sort of case but i dropped mine yesterday and cracked the back top corner :(
