No wonder they needed 2 FE's in Crossfire to run Prey at 4k then :D :p

edit - We are so soooooooo screwed with pricing if this is the best AMD can do :(

BTW where does that Vega Rx equals 1080 performance comes from? There's nothing in that reddit thread implying it. I could make another thread saying RX Vega is 2X faster than an 1080.

You can crossfire Fiji and get way better performance than Vega while using around the same amount of power... What the hell have they done ???? lol

Well the title of that thread implies it, the guy who started that thread was present at the event. Now that being said, there were no FPS counters, and the PCs were using FS/GS so you probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference anyway, and I'm guessing the guy knew it was a 1080 in the other machine. But yes he definitely doesn't have any kind of factual results to be able to prove what he is implying.

There's an 850w Kolink 80 Plus one for £49.99

If you like electrical fires... :p

With an RX Vega, at say £400, would =

In short its a BS thread, and everyone jumped on it like mindless fleas.

Thats why i said, i could make a thread of the opposite with just a much evidence...man people at reddit are so stupid

Very much true, there isn't anything to back this up, I don't know if they knew what the config of the other PC was ? It's not hard to imagine that they didn't. But if someone can confirm that it was a 1080 in the other PC, that would imply that they aren't trying to go up against a Ti

The guy wrote he asked an AMD employee and he told him...i call that BS, they mask the monitors and the machines then tell every John and Jerry what's what? Makes sense....
That guys is reddit karma whore nothing else.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/6o0kku/vega_equals_or_is_close_to_gtx_1080_performance/

So it seem 8GB RX Vega has same performance as 16GB Vega Frontier Edition.
Why are people assuming this is the high-end vega and not the mid-range one? Also people were apparently saying the left one was noticeably smoother so hopefully that is the Vega one. Keeping my hopes up as I might be getting a cheap freesync monitor tomorrow. :p /keeping the hype train going!

What wouldbe the point in pitting RX Vega against a completely unknown Nvidia GPU, of course AMD told people that it was a regular 1080, that was the entire point of that marketing setup.

Yeah keep the faith ppl, its the cut-down XL :p

yeah all logical, tell people it's an 1080 (after you masked the monitors and computers to hide it) so they can make ******** posts on the internet which ruins your launch before it even happens....

For all we know it could be a 1080Ti in one of the PC's.

Smells a bit fishy that AMD would go to the effort of masking everything up and then tell the first person that asked what kit they were using. In fact it smells like BS to me.

TBH, I don't care either way, I just want about 1080Ti performance without the 1080Ti price. If whatever Vega launches at brings down Nvidia prices then I'll win either way, whether I end up buying AMD or Nvidia.

Agreed doesn't make sense for them to go to all that effort and then just tell people...

Not that I care, I'm happy with my 1080ti sli setup for the distant future. I do find the fanboys of either side in here as hilarious as ever...never change OCUK Graphics forum.[/

yeah logicial, don't tell anyone and have people think it might be competing with a 1060

AMD Reps boss:

'What yer laughing at'

AMD Rep:

'He asked what card was in the other machine'

AMD Reps boss:

'You didn't tell him did yer?'

AMD Rep:

'Course not, i told him it was a 1080, not a 1060'

AMD Reps Boss:

*starts laughing*

:D

Don't start a marketing agency if it's logical to you to tell people that your top product is not up to the task before the start...just after you masked it off on all computers to hide which one is which.

The guys is just making up ******** on reddit, and the naysayers are riding on it...that happened.
