I thought it was quite a poor episode. Seemed very forced and rushed and the whole fight in the north was pretty unbelievable. Why were there a handy amount of the undead just wandering around waiting to be kidnapped? Why was there a turned bear just roaming on it's own. How on earth did what's his name sprint all the way to the wall, a raven fly all the way to Danaerys then Danaerys manage to get back before that water froze over. I thought that one spear killing the dragon was pretty stupid too. Where on earth did John's rescuer come from and how did John not die after being fully submerged in freezing cold water then spending hours / days?? on a horse not moving. Slightly disappointed.

Uncle Benjen part was a bit ridiculous (as much as Gendry's super sprint and light speed raven email was). "Come with me". "No there's no time". Runs off and dies (presumably). No time to hop on that horse to outrun a few dead folk? Really? Would have took a second at most!

I believe someone done the math on the whole lake freezing thing and it worked out. Iirc it would have taken approx 8 days for the lake to freeze to the strength a horde would need to walk on it. At no point was we told how long they stayed on the lake for but then again they probably would have died after 8 days stranded on a frozen lake.

Agreed. Gendry run your the fastest. Was bloody dam fast alright. I enjoyed the episode aside from a few things like Gendrys run

I got the impression it was just one night...

I think they weren't supposed to be very far from the wall - hence why they were able to get back so quickly.

Few things I disliked, but god, what an incredible episode!

The Olympic javelin throw was just stupid. The ballista did hardly any damage, but this bloke just casually lobs a spear in the air like it's nothing and insta kills it.

The Dany/Jon love thing is being shoved in our faces at every opportunity. It was so forced.

Benjen with the completely pointless death. He could have just taken Jon back to the wall and said his goodbyes, like with Bran. Game of Thrones loves including utterly ridiculous self sacrifices for some reason.

Apart from those I absolutely loved it. Going to watch it again now. :)

This is another one where i don't really see a problem. It's an undead guy throwing a magical spear at a dragon - I don't think the ballistics are an issue here

I know, magic and all that. It was just a bit silly though.

Another thing. You kill the white walker and all of his followers suddenly die, conveniently apart from one. :p I actually thought it was Thoros to begin with - like he had just died during the battle and turned undead or something.

The worst episode yet.
The group of major players agree to an insane plan to go on a suicidal mission to capture an undead man north of the wall in order to convince Queen Cersei to not immediately stab them in the back the moment they set foot in Kings Landing.
Almost all but one and expendable redshirt characters arrived back safely despite getting caught in a whiteout in the open without shelter, swarmed by the undead hordes and the nearest help being days away.

Tormund should have died when he was grabbed. Plus maybe one more, Jorah perhaps - he seems a bit redundant to Dany with Jon in the picture.

Oi! Are these spoilers?

I think he threw the spear directly in to the dragons fire breathing lungs hence all the flames spewing out of it's body whereas the ballista hit the solid boney/front shoulder/neck of the dragon in the previous episode. The dragon didn't die in mid air, it couldn't breathe so drowned/froze in the icy lake.
