*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

Haha I've found Sky's customer service beyond horrible lately. The live chat on the website is unusable as it's always busy, I tried the My Sky app and they don't reply or if they do they say their shift ends soon so they will pass you over to someone else. They do this then you hear nothing back. They offered me literally zero discounts or incentives to stay with them lately. I've been with them for 4 years, I find their VIP offers completely unappealing and a waste of time. And to think a year ago I was recommending this company whenever it came up in conversation because they have been good to me until lately. It's like they are wanting to lose customers and reputation for some reason, it just makes no sense. Oh well, at least I can get out now before Mr Murdoch gains complete control

Yes I know and have been reading about these discounts for some time and it makes me sick when I see the discounts people get when they threaten to leave. Sky have done very little for long term loyal customers and instead choose to reward those who threaten to leave or who have joined as new customers. I am not threatening to leave to get a discount on what I pay per month I am actually going to cancel no matter what they offer!
All companies do it, insurance, breakdown, mobile phone providors etc.

Just done the cancellation dance that way. Took over 24 hours back and forth, but I could at least get on with my days, rather than be stuck to a webchat or phone call. Happy with resulting deal, as it means I'll be paying a good chunk less then a newbie for 2TB Q, 1 mini, and box set package.

If you want to cancel tell them you are moving out of the country. Once they know you're unsustainable then you will get through the call quicker.

I still have no offers lol, not even on the box or on the website. I'm not that bothered beyond wondering why i'm not getting them like everyone else is, especially after being with them for 12 years. We "might" stay with them if they offered us something decent but they better be quick.

Hi, as previously stated I'm looking to cancel my entire Sky package (includes Sky Q 2Tb and mini box, Broadband and phone etc) Cant find any Virgin threads so will ask here, sorry, I have looked at the virgin vip package with the 2 X V6 boxes which I understand do 4K. It would appear however that Sky Sports and BT Sports and Sky Movies on this package do not broadcast any 4K, is this true and if so when will 4K Sky Sports and BT Sport be available. This could be a deal breaker.

Has anyone quit and rejoined then had issues with Sky+ entitlement?

I rejoined a few months ago taking the offer anytime I load catch up / box sets etc I just get a message saying I don't have Sky+ entitlement.

Just cancelled Sky! I was paying £51 for everything and was offered £84...Decided to cancel as I set myself a £70 limit...The cancellation has gone through not sure if I'll get a call with a better deal, the guy on the phone said I was offered a 50% off deal...decided to hold out for a 60% not sure if I'm been foolish or not?

Anyone been through this and can offer advice? (this is my fist time with Sky)

Cheers

@MissChief - My old man is currently having a bit of a mare with Sky actually trying to speak to anyone!

He is on 40mbit fibre and a fairly standard TV package + an extra box for upstairs.

He's tried to get some kind of renewal on a better price but isn't getting anywhere, so currently the fibre is moving over to BT on the 4th of next month. The TV package is up in the air still.

Problem is the Sky fibre is being cancelled on the 1st, he's trying to get them to move the date to the 4th to coincide with the BT date, but they don't answer live chat, and have been generally useless at moving it!

Any chance of a hook up of some kind to get things moving somehow? :)

He'd like to keep the TV running, but is his only option to let it cancel and take out a new contract in my mums name?

The only way to change the date is cancel the cancellation and put through the cancellation again. This will likely cause bother with the transfer to BT though.

Best thing he can do is call. he'll get asked twice if he wants to use the messaging service. Say 'No' each time and he'll get through to someone.

Hmm my mother in law is struggling, best I can get her so far is 40% off and a £25 credit. Not bad but not as good as current deal.

I rang up about 3 weeks ago to cancel. I was offered 50% for 18 months (good deal yeah I guess). I turned it down and then My Sky was 40% for 12 months. I log in today and Ive got wait for it 30% for 12 months. lol I thought the offer's went up not down.

Hmm struggling to get our monthly bill down as the Mrs has let it get a bit out of hand, what we need is 40mb unlimited broadband (never use the phone), F1 & GOT in HD

We currently pay
BT - £47.49 for Unlimited Infinity 1 - Line Rental - Weekend calls

Sky - £44.00 for Variety Bundle (£32) - Sky HD+ (£12)

We must be able to do better than this, any suggestions as I believe its the F1 that screws it a bit?
