Tomorrow I'm going to drill my helmet to fit a gopro mount, the front is curved so the only way to make it permanently fixed is to drill and stick a bolt through :o

I have read some stupid ideas on here in the past but this must be the best so far..........

If you compromise the structure of the helmet by drilling into it of course it is going to weaken it.

It wasn't too many years ago that manufacturers wouldn't recommend even putting stickers on a helmet as they didn't know if the glue would weaken the helmet so imagine what they would say if you started drilling holes in it.

You can buy a pack of curved mounts for very little cost got to be worth it.

My helmet is very curved on the side but I still managed to mount my Ghost-S there with no problems at all.

I sold the bars yesterday with the brace mate, If I knew. I would have actually got my tools out and took it off for you, but I don't have them anymore. :( Indicators, mirrors and chain lube sold too. :p

I might have some other bits, there were like 5 boxes with bike bits. No wonder my mum was nagging me to clear it up! :p I'm nearly finished tidying up, so will let you know. if I have any other bars with the brace.

It's about time helmet manufacturers started implementing mounts into helmets, they know action cameras have tripled in demand over the past 2 years.

Unfortunately there is more than one standard. I guess if they made a "Shoei" mount and then adaptors for screw mount, go pro mount, pinch mount etc

And that doesn't factor in the placement, everyone has them mounted differently

They never will simply because it would massively impact the safety ratings having something built it to stick out of the lid

This is what i'm left with, going to sand it down at work tomorrow, make it nice and smooth and then stick on a 3M pad that comes with the Gopro, that stuff is like steel when it sets.

We didn't make it that far... We bailed and went to West Mersea instead -

(Trip recorded by amazing app Ride Out Buddy ;) Well, not that amazing, my mates Samsung doesn't let the service run in the background :( )

You can see we turned off just before Colchester. Lovely roads when I hot twisty roads route on the TomTom. Reasonable beach there. Great weather, verging on too hot but not too bad if you could keep moving.

I did feel a little sorry for this guy who decided the traffic was too much, tried a U turn and backed into a ditch.
