Blue Planet 2

No doubt someone will be along soon saying that the licence fee should be abandoned. It usually doesn't take long.

I, personally, think the licence fee offers great value, especially with content like Planet Earth 2 and this coming soon. No way a company like ITV could finance programmes like these.

Some nice Rockies photography last night in the new BBC series Moluntain : Life at the Extreme

I do not understand why these are not all being shot proactively in 4K/HDR though, surely the potential worldwide/USA market for such programmes will pay a premium,
maybe most UK production companies, BBC are obliged to use ?, are not tooled up though.
Netflix is using silverback films / Bristol for their upcoming (must be 4k) Our Planet production, who also did "the hunt"

The BBC's nature department is pretty much the only thing left of the BBC that's worth anything. As soon as Sir David dies (which is unfortunately not far off now) then there is nothing of value left and the TV licence isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

True for you perhaps, but not for all.

New five minute trailer released with music by Hans Zimmer and Radiohead. Looks so awesome, oh if only we had 4K HDR broadcasts.

Cannot wait for this, Blue Planet and both Planet Earth series are different gravy to stuff on Discovery etc, it's amazing what the Beeb do with these nature programs.
