What did Obama do in 8 years, even after Sandyhook?

I think you need to look at how the USA governmental system actually operates. If you do not control both houses you cannot pass through domestic policy changes, or if you do it will be subject to a cart load of amendments/additions. Donald Trump has a Republican majority in both houses, so whilst it would have course not be a simple task, he would have more chance of successfully passing significant legislative changes. Given the Republicans are beholden to the gun lobby it won't happen

No I am saying that the act of causing someone deliberate harm is an issue of mental health. No one of sound mind would go out and cause someone deliberate harm.

again raises some really awkward questions about bomber command doesnt it

They are clearly excluded from what I am saying as they are employed to do a job. Not something I personally could do.

You are stuck in 21st century thinking. Tribal warfare has been the norm until very recently. It is deep within us and doesn't take all that much to come to the fore. If you feel suitably disconnected from another group and then that group presents what you see as a threat your fight or flight will kick in. If you fight then you will kill to protect what you believe.

Plenty people from Amazon tribes, Roman soldiers to modern military killed innocent people then came home and lived entirely peaceful lives. It is all just down to context.

According to Boston 25 news these two guns were found in the shooters hotel room, not been able to verify yet so take with a pinch of salt:

Yeah looks like it, the top pic looks like that's a 100 round mag, the bottom photo makes me think these could be genuine considering you can see a bolster hammer in the background which I assume he used to smash the windows!

Yep, it's a Surefire 100 round magazine (See pic below)

I think this is pretty good to show up the pro-second amendment nutters; https://www.indy100.com/article/ame...weapons-vegas-shooting-mass-shootings-7979086

Urgh.

The comparison between Obama's speech and Trumps says a lot, I listened to Trumps speech yesterday and afterwards I just forgot literally everything he said, I had to watch it again it was so crap - it was like some sort of lame priest dishing out scripture, what he said amounted to zero.

What will be interesting is how his speeches evolve over his term, as we go from shooting to shooting,

The carpet matches the other photo circulating of the perpetrator so looks to be genuine.
Everyone screaming for tighter gun control as normal, but everything I've read about this specific case so far suggests he was perfectly normal & stable man, & wouldn't have been flagged by any background check or mental health assessment, & the weapons he used were modified single shot which are so numerous that no-one is seriously proposing are to be restricted anyway.

tbh, the vast majority of gun crime is committed by seemingly normal and stable men, I'm not convinced by our ability to measure "normal and stable" everyone in the world has a terrible day, flies off the handle, or wants to hurt someone at some point, things get a little more complicated when you combine those moments with blanket gun ownership

But allowing 100 round magazines is utterly insane!
You might as well remove the full auto ban as this tragedy clearly shows you can easily work around this with a large capacity mag and a bump gun mod! Then you have something almost as efficient and deadly as a full auto gun LEGALLY !!

but the republicans control both houses now but trump hasnt been able to get anything through....

Why do so many people feel they have the right to dictate what Americans do. Their country and laws.

Personally speaking I don't because its what they want, what America wants America gets and all that. I don't have a problem commenting on how utterly stupid I think they are for allowing it to happen though. Similarly I think only a moron wouldn't question the reasoning as to why they revere guns as they do and cling to a second amendment from an era where the guns in questions were breech or muzzle loaded rifles and really has no relevance in a modern context.

But ultimately what America wants, America gets and they should probably stop questioning why it keeps happening when they not only repeatedly reject the solution but their mentality is to arm more people, relax gun ownership regulations and make silencers legal at consumer level.

so a sensible restriction to straight pull or bolt action would have worked brilliantly in this case?

tbh its not the mental people i'd worry about more the stupid

that well regulated (or "effective") militia yo!
