Both RX Vega 64 & 56 Beat GTX 1080 Ti in Forza 7 DX12 benchmarks

Well this could be quite a moment for PC gaming. If it is then it begs the question why other games run like crap at 4K. I think we'll see a lot of patching for AMD from other developers.

I think AMD have been doing that sinse 2012 with Mantle haven't they?

Mantle was only every a tech demo in the hands of AMD it was never going to be the industry standard it's sole purpose was to get the industry to move on from DX11 which worked as it prompted Microsoft to the release DX12 as a low level API.

Funny thread. Like a primary school playground lol. Being an Nvidia user at the present, I don't mind seeing AMD doing well in games and would love to see this continue in other games also but I would expect to see a driver from Nvidia released to give their users a bit more performance.

AMD went into Mantle with a view to seeing a financial return by attempting to produce a superior API that was unavailable to anyone using NVidia cards.

It had nothing to do with being a tech demo or prompting Microsoft to release DX12 as neither of these things would bank AMD a penny.

AMD is not a charity and the shareholders would be very concerned if the company had any notions along those lines.:)

No. Mantle is alive and well.

I don't think this was the case at all. Mantle was never going to be a money maker for AMD. It was a tech Demo and a way of pushing developers quicker onto low level Api's where AMD architecture would shine more. AMD are not a charity as you say but the API it self was never going to make them money directly. Pushing the market to low level Api's and being in the consoles was a decent strategy imo and may still pay off well.

This thread is hilarious.
A quick check of the numbers and it is clear the results are pretty much meaningless at this point in time. Looki at the 1080Ti result scaling form 1080p to 4K, LOL, the engine is not working correctly.

The thing is, when this happens in reverse and it's AMD results that are iffy, it's Nvidia that is gimping AMD.

I think people are being far to optimistic over one game. Nvidia have stated that things are working properly. This looks like a reverse of Fury X where much slower cards were faster at 1080p on some games. As the resolution goes up Fury X would show up well. Could be the same thing here with this engine and Nvidia cards especially the 1080ti. Lets wait and see how this progresses. Vega is showing up well when game engines suit it especially in more recent titles. Hopefully this trend continues.

As far as i know this ain't an AMD sponsored game and there is nothing to say AMD had loads of involvement unlike some questionable games with Nvidia in the past. That conversation has been done to death though and no point going over it again. The 2 situations are not even close though.

Intel got told "No" when they wanted in on Mantle. Not sure where you are getting your info from?

Actually this is what actually happened.

Intel confirms that they have approached AMD about access to their Mantle API. The discussion, despite being clearly labeled as "an experiment" by an Intel spokesperson, was initiated by them -- not AMD. According to AMD's Gaming Scientist, Richard Huddy, via PCWorld, AMD's response was, "Give us a month or two" and "we'll go into the 1.0 phase sometime this year" which only has about five months left in it. When the API reaches 1.0, anyone who wants to participate (including hardware vendors) will be granted access.

Just had a Google to refresh and I found this, the answer wasn't a straightforward No like you saying.

"I know that Intel have approached us for access to the Mantle interfaces, et cetera," Huddy said. " And right now, we've said, give us a month or two, this is a closed beta, and we'll go into the 1.0 [public release] phase sometime this year, which is less than five months if you count forward from June. They have asked for access, and we will give it to them when we open this up, and we'll give it to anyone who wants to participate in this."
