*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

So am I right in saying a Sky Q box without multiroom offers no additional functionality than the old Sky HD box? I was hoping I could pause TV on my lounge TV, go upstairs and then carry on watching. Having multiroom for that seems excessive as I don't want to watch two different channels on two different TVs. My TVs are placed so I could in theory run some cables, but I'm not massively keen on drilling through the ceiling...could send it outside I suppose.

If you had a long HDMI cable and splitter you can do that, but you'd still be limited to the same thing on both TV's. Sky Q MS and a Mini box also offers this functionality as well though and fully independent viewing, pausing, rewinding etc too.

in order to do it, you need to record what you are watching at the moment. switch main box off, go to bedroom or wherever mini box is, and play from recording.
:)

Sky Q also allows more simultaneous recordings while still watching another channel. Sky+HD only allows one and one to watch, Sky Q 1tb allows record 4 watch 1 (memory hazy!) and 2tb record 6 watch 1.

Thank you. That answers my question perfectly. Almost what I'd hoped it'd do, will give it some thought as to whether that's enough.

Regarding negotiations I think it's purely down to who you speak to if you ring up, I gave notice in September and nothing appeared in my offers so I rang up last week (I have the full TV package with sports, movies, HD etc, sky Q 2tb & mini box) the first woman gave me a pathetic 'deal' for around £70-£80 a month (no thankyou) the second time I rang the guy said he could only knock £7 off sports (again put phone down :D) I rang again at weekend to cancel said I'm not interested as it's too expensive and just before cancellation the woman said she could offer me everything I have now for £55 a month (50% off the £110) package, I was happy with this so took it (still get my Internet from virgin) :D

Sky customer service is now horrendous. It's a total brick wall. The online chat is never available, no one answers the app messages for hours on end... and if I call them the computer lady tells me that they are currently training their staff and the call will take over 40 minutes to get through.

I'm not on the phones today but have had training today. :)

If it's a simple query trust message me? If it's a sale or upgrade I probably won't be able to do it.

To be honest, the usual just happened. I waited three quarters of an hour to get through and ended up getting my bill reduced from £50/month to £38.60/month. So there you have it, moaning works! :D

My new package price is now showing on my account. Would I be able to go in and add the £10/month movies deal now? It looks like I'm able to do it, but don't want to end up overriding the deal I just got?

Here's what I got emailed tonight.

(I know you're not working 24/7 so understand if you don't reply to this).

Sky TV (discounted by £11.40 per month, with remaining duration of 18 months).

Should be able to add cinema package for £10 yeah.

Right guys, so have just done the tango and best deal I could get was 40% off a 12 month contract, this is ok for me but I want to add Sky Q. There is a current offer (new standard price maybe) which discounts set up and works out at £12 per month for UHD/Multiscreen and £115 for a Q box and 1 mini box (18 month contract). Is this the best I can do at the minute?

Do you have Sky HD Multiscreen at the moment?

This was a frustrating experience. I'm on a rolling 30 day contract with 60% discount for standard Sky+HD. I called them today to cancel with the intention of upgrading to SkyQ. He offered me a deal I was happy with, my monthly payment would stay at £47 for box sets, movies and sports (not fussed about keeping movies) plus I'd get SkyQ 2TB and a mini box for £85 installation with an 18 month installation. I was happy with that.

He then books in my appoint and is reading through the summary when he says the deal expires next August, I'd be paying £47 per month until then and afterwards that would go up to £95+ for the remainder of the contract. He says at this point I can renegotiate.

However, if I am still tied in for the remainder of the 18 month contract I don't see how I am in the position to renegotiate? I'd still be locked in to the contract. I felt a bit deceived by this as he only mentioned it right at the very end.

Edit: Thinking about this should I take the upgrade, keep my 60% discount for 9 months and then try and neogotiate something in August? It seems my minimum commitment would be £24 for the minimum package + £10 for the mini box so I could always try and downgrade it at the time and see what offers they have?

Send me a trust message and I can get you a free 2tb upgrade and half price mini box. I'd accept the 40% if you're happy with that as I can't adjust offers. The SkyQ multiscreen is an 18m contract though so watch out for your offer length.

Many thanks for that, ordered. Install is 3 weeks away, I was hoping for a self install but didn't get the option.

My current deal ends at the begining of December so I will have to try to get another one. The thing is that under the Sky vip rewards scheme (I get the top level which is black if I remember right) I can get a free 2TB Sky Q box and free installation and only have to pay £12 for multiroom. The problem is that it's a 18 month contract. has anybody managed to get a deal fixed for 18 months? If I get the usual 12 month deal I can see me having to pay full price for the extra 6 months which I just cannot justify the cost.
