Possible coup in Zimbabwe

Moved there in 1978 but always wondered why we had only lived there a few months before doing a moonlight flit back to the UK , asked my mum a few years back and it was the day after the Elim massacre and we lived about 10 miles from there.
Also nearly got eaten by a Leopard in the back garden untill our 2 ridgebacks went ape.
And managed to get the biggest tick in the world stuck on one of my testicles.

Saviour of the thread :D

Always bothered me that people took their kids out there about then given the circumstances - one of my friends in the mid to late 80s was taken out there for a year by his parents who were part of the Elim church.

The piece of **** that is Mugabe has resigned by letter, I’m chuffed for the people of Zimbabwe, I hope he feels the full force of law and pays for his tyranny.

Doubt it will happen - same party is still in power and still many of the "old guard" so he will probably have some agreement for immunity if he does step down. While I hope there will be change I'm not sure if it will happen.

Chris Wilson also also admires the political struggle of Hitler and Mussolini.

I'd be very interested in the post about that, please provide the link

If "The Crocodile" is voted in, honestly or dishonestly, they aren't going to be much, if any, better off, sadly.

Althrough i don't know much about "The Crocodile" i suspect it'll be same crap, different name. I don't see much changing at all

Alas I suspect your right, but I hope he’s held to account for the blood on his hands, maybe those that brought him down will allow him to pay the price? (whilst most likely getting off themselves)

One thing for sure, interesting times ahead!

Top marks.
Quoting the text from an image posted a few posts above. Is that really all you have to do to get 'top marks' these days? Little wonder our education system is in such a state.
Well, this is a cheery thread... anyone for a little sing-along? I'll start...

This is so true. I
saw the Zimbabweans celebrating yesterday and I thought great but surely they realise they are replacing one tyrant with another? Corruption will continue, have you ever seen a poor African leader or his cronies? The ordinary folk will continue to suffer as they have done for the past 37 years.

I have never understood after pouring billions into Africa apart from a rich elite getting richer nothing changes, water and food and medical aid remain major issues for 99% of the population.

It's Africa. An entire continent full of bent, corrupt thieving scumbag politicians just dying to get in to power so they can **** their own people over for their own benefit.

Wow, just wow! The only people that softened up on Bush are idiots and some of the US press who portray him as a bumbling idiot (which he is) but most people on this planet still remember him for starting two pointless wars, stripping citizens of the right to privacy and ruining the economy.

Iraq nor Afghanistan were pointless wars.

One was to remove a fascist tyrant, the other was to remove the Taliban and kill or capture osama bin laden.

And how's that going? I thought we went into Iraq partly based on Hussein's threat to the UK, with him potentially being able to strike us within 45 minutes? The Middle East a better place now? Taliban done and dusted? Obama/Americans took out Bin Laden. Why are we still there? What's the definition of a victory?
