*** Nintendo Switch ***

Guys, is it wrong of me to be considering selling my switch?

Not really. To me the switch is a bit of an indulgence so I can play Nintendo exclusive titles and have something to play on the go. If I could only own one console it certainly wouldn't be a switch given the lack of multi platform games on it. Generally if a game is multi platform I'll usually buy it on PC as it tends to be cheaper and graphically better than the PS4/XB1 version.

I'm still going to keep my switch as over the next year we'll have xenoblade chronicles, Metroid prime 4, octopath traveller, a fire emblem strategy game, Pokémon, etc.

That's just what we know of. Plus I'm sure the switch will ultimately replace the DS range meaning all the games from that platform will migrate to it eventually. More than enough reason for me to hang onto it. I wouldn't blame anyone for selling it if they weren't in the position to keep multiple consoles though.

I think after Mario is completed (and I'm already starting to get a little bored of collecting the moons) it will spend most of its time switched off. Just thinking it's actually a very expensive console. The AAA games are £50, and I know it's a hybrid console which I do like, the thought of being able to get a ps4 pro with 4 games for the same price I paid for the switch isn't sitting well. That and thinking last night just after I'd ordered Forza 7 for my son (a AAA game for £26), that this is a game half the damn price!! I don't know, I'm in two minds.

Doom for example is £50 on the switch, and a tenner for the other consoles.

Guess I have to weigh up the allure of gaming in bed lol

Like Silvagti said, the Switch is an indulgence. Mine has been off since I finished Zelda a few months back, but I have no regrets - there are games coming out that interest me and while I am probably a minority, motion controls is actually a selling point to me over other platforms (otherwise I would just use the PC for everything). I don't even use mine in portable much (which I admit is a waste, I really need to get round to doing that).

At the moment most my time is spent on the PC, but I don't regret having the Switch at the ready (especially if I have mates around - nothing compares to Nintendo for local multiplayer). If you have no other console/PC I can certainly see why you would think of selling it on. If you have a PC already, well I personally see no reason to have a Playstation or Xbox anyway.

I'm a bit of a collector when it comes to old consoles in that I generally keep them and they ones I've sold I actually regret selling! I flogged my PS1 when I got a ps2 as it had backwards compatibility however looking at it now I'd actually like to have an original PS1 from launch just for the novelty! Likewise I also had an original Gameboy which in hindsight I should really have kept!

The games I'll happily get rid of if they no longer interest me or I don't think they're important or interesting enough to warrant hanging onto.

I'm a bit odd like that though :D

I'm the opposite. Since I bought the Switch my XB1 has become pretty much a Blu-ray, Netflix and Amazon streaming machine. With the lackluster AAA releases we've had recently and the Battlefront II fiasco I'm pretty happy to be out of it. Having said that I am not totally out as I can be a lot more selective in what I buy so I have had some good times this year with (all PS4) TLoU, Uncharted: Lost Legacy, and H:ZD etc (I bought Destiny 2 on the XB1 but that was a mistake) and I can pick and choose digital games when they are on offer. Switch is my main console by far. It's like a breath of fresh air.

Thanks guys

Have to admit, I am a sucker for a good donkey kong and never had much time with tropical freeze. If by some miracle it came to switch in 2018 I'd be very very happy.

Sell the system while you can get most of your money back. No point in having an expensive paperweight.

This is one of the many reasons i'm not sold on this system. Plus i'm not a huge Nintendo fan, i like 3 franchises, if that. If i bought one it would be for literally 2 games just now (Zelda & Mario). That's it. Plus i don't like handheld gaming, so this feature is just a waste.

I came to the conclusion i'll just wait (doesn't matter how long), until this can be picked up for under £100. Hopefully by that time the system will be emulated on PC.

Under £100?! You might be waiting a lot longer than you'd like.

What?. You sold it??...

I did not expect a new mode though, sounds like it will be one of the more strategic game modes too in terms of team coordination. Time to call up the guys!.

Sell it now for near full price and buy it again when a game you want comes out.
Yeah. I ended up returning mine after completing Zelda for a full refund due to the controller issues at launch. Only recently purchased it again. Got it cheaper with a fresh 2 year warranty :D

Will be keeping it this time however. There is enough on there now to keep me happy as things slowly come out. I had my pro controller waiting which I kept from last time too :)

Yeah I did. Some regret now though.

I seem to recall you ranked up quite a bit though, so guess you've already got plenty of enjoyment out of the game.

With so many great new games to play through it's kinda hard to spend loads of time invested in one. Splatoon is one of my favourite ever multiplayer games though so I'll keep going back to it.

Speaking of new games, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is just around the corner - I've been listening to some previews and they've been very positive so far, I think the combat system may be the best iteration in the series by far based on what I've heard - and it was already strong before.

Spoiler free UK commercial (glimpses of a few different locations):

:o

I might hold off for a week or two and enjoy some multiplayer gaming first though (still recovering from my Odyssey binge lol) - I know once I start Xenoblade 2 that I won't be able to play anything else, the previous two games had me completely hooked and I'm not even that into JRPG's usually.

Really in a quandary right now I'm strapped for cash I've sold my 3ds and I'll be selling the Wii u to fun the switch. I have a ps4 that I could sell but there is some amazing exclusives coming out for it.
There ain't a lot of games currently on switch but with my limited game time it would take me a good 3 months to complete one. So I won't be short on games say if there's 4 games out now and they take about 3 months each to finish then that's 12 months and there will be plenty, I won't be able to keep up.
I don't touch the PS4 much for gaming mainly for Netflix and nowtv, which I could actually watch with a Roku stick that my sister will kindly donate.
I could always buy the PS4 in the future after a few years, when I'm more richer, not saving for a house etc.

Just trying to figure out if I'll regret selling the PS4. Or just wait till I can afford the switch, but it would be amazing to have it for Christmas as I have the week off, and it'll be like my best Christmas when I had a super Nintendo.

Yeah I played it a lot and loved my time with it. I sold it just before Odyssey dropped but I think I'll pick it up again at some point. Xenoblade 2 looks like another big time sink so it might be a while yet.

I would probably sell it. When the time comes you can buy another PS4 you will likely get it dirt cheap or manage to get the Pro at a decent price
