*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

I've been sat out of contract for a few months now. Currently paying £69 for box sets and 40mb fibre. Every time I call they can only offer a few £ off and that locks me in another 18months. Rinse repeat every month... Virgin currently offer a better tv bundle and 100mb BB for £56 with 30 day rolling contract!

I have been with Sky for over 16 years (Black Tier) and took out Sky Q in March 16, the 18month contract ended in September 17.
Rang them up today to try and get a better deal than the £129.99 (includes £6 discount on Sports/Cinema Package) that I'm currently paying.
I have Sky Q Silver + 2 Mini Boxes with Sports and Movies along with Sky Telephone (Evenings and Weekend) + Fibre Unlimited.

The retentions team could only offer me a deal to stay with sky at a price of £99.79, locking me in to another 18month contract.
I was not happy with this deal telling them that Sky is offering my friends and family deals with 60% off, with my loyalty I should at least have the same offer!

Unfortunately the telephone advisor could not do any more apparently as the system did not allow her, so I went ahead with the cancellation.

My sky online account now has a deal to stay with them with 30% off (obviously not happy with that)
Hoping they provide a better deal with cancellation going through, will keep you updated on the progress! :)

Most of the replies on this thread show people upgrading from Sky+ to Sky Q, has one else been in this similar position renewing their Sky Q and what did you manage to get them down to?
When you cancelled were you cut off straight away?

I've been on the phone to them a while. Managed a deal I'm happy with considering I'm out of contract for tv.

Fibre Max £31inc line rental (12months)
Box sets £30
Movies £10(18months)

Nice. I'll have to call them and see if they can match that Fibre Max. I'm sure they weren't even close to that with me last time I called.

They currently have an offer on of £30 Inc line rental for new customers of fibre max. The small print states if you already have any form of fibre you're not able to get the offer but I explained that their old router is rubbish and WiFi has been nowhere near my hardwired 40mb and I can get virgin BB at a similar price, etc etc. They finally offered me fibre max despite being an existing fibre 40mb customer at £31 which is the best they said they could do.

As RoboCod above said, as of yesterday TV Retentions have a global offer for 13.99 off Fibre Unlimited or Max (it was also available a couple of months ago, and has been available as a targeted offer for existing customers for the last week). This is available for all customers, either new customers who also take out Line Rental (the offer for that is 9.99 for new customers, 18.99 for existing customers), or existing customers who upgrade to Fibre Unlimited or Max. 18-month contracts in both cases.

Meaning new customers can get Line Rental and Fibre Unlimited for £16 or Fibre Max for £21.

For existing customers it is £25 and £30 respectively, which is also a very good deal.

Just spoke to the Broadband team on Sky Chat, and managed to get Fibre Max, Line Rental, and anytime calls for £41.99 + £50 credit. So an equivalent of £37.83 per month. That'll do for me.

Now to see if the TV guys can do anything for me.

I cancelled last night as my 60% offer finishes in December. Was offered 40% off, but refused. MySky is offering 50% but ideally I wanted the 60% discount again...but no luck so far! (I'm on Sky+, Sports, Box Sets, HD for £28.50/month).

BTW, Sky are moving away from percentage discounts soon. Whoever has them, gets to keep them for however long they are supposed to be there, but in a few months these will no longer be available. Whether percentage discounts will ever come back, is something we'll need to wait and see.

Any news if Sky are having any particular black friday deals for TV/Fibre?
I was hoping they would have something on offer by now.

So our current deal is up for renewal, they were willing to go 40% which would bring me back on par with what we’ve been paying for the last 18 months, minus the cinema which is no biggie as we’ve got more than enough films to watch on the Apple TV.

I refused though and put through the cancellation.

Am I realistically going to get any better than this?

It is a little unlikely. All TV Retentions advisors get four 40% off TV codes per week, to use at their discretion. If you've already been offered this, then it could be that there's nothing better available currently.

Eugh, after the good result of negotiating a renewal on my contract, my mobile phone bill has come through and it turns out I foolishly dialled what appears to be sky's most expensive line!

The phone call cost me £35  extortionate

I thought companies aren't allowed to charge high rate for regular customer service lines?
I thought those days were over?!

Given nearly all networks include the majority of 08 and 03 numbers in your minutes. Guess it doesn't help on a landline/pay as you go
I'm going to write to them to complain. To say it cost me £35 for the pleasure of them renegotiating me another contract (most of which was spent on hold of course) that bill is pretty heinous!

I am not sure Sky will actually do something about this, as you used your mobile phone, and you called the number yourself. A simple search on the website gives you 03 numbers which are free with any mobile phone provider out there.

Hint: Dialing 150 on your landline connects you to your provider's call center free of charge.
