What "man jobs" have you done today?

I was working in a 1.4m x 3m bathroom, it was tight to get the roll in to start with as the only free space at the widest point of the walls is where the towel rail is. Cutting out around the rectangular vanity unit wasn't as easy as I thought, ended up trying to shave small pieces off to get a perfect fit. I cut out the rough shape of the bath before taking the roll upstairs to make it a bit easier. Doing it again I'd definitely be doing a template and placing that over the vinyl then adding some extra for tolerance before cutting.

Every cut you do NEEDS to be perfect. It's one of those jobs I'd rather stick to my day job and pay someone to do it properly.
 
I laid my first vinyl floor not long ago in a flat ive got, i cut it outside the room allowing a couple of cm for tolerance from my measurements.

It went in fairly easily tbh, its definitely worth making it pretty much fit before you lay it as you suggested perhaps with a template (or just measurements like me). :)
 
I unclogged the Ubend on my bathroom sink.
got to be my favourite job of all time that.
I can't quite put my finger on why I like it so much though, wether its the disgusting brown gunk, the matted hair or the absolutely rank smell.

I did the same, I ended up with enough vinyl ordered to do my bathroom twice. My thinking was I would have a go myself, then if/when it went wrong I would call a fitter to get them to do it. Took me all morning to fit and I wasn't happy with the job I had done. I rang a local fitter who popped round later that afternoon, did it for £20 in about 30 mins. Lesson learned, its one of those jobs that quicker and cheaper to pay someone to do! I did fit the plywood subfloor myself, it's just the lino I failed at!

Took all of the new wardrobe cardboard from Ikea down the tip and started moving the clothes over from the old chest of drawers - mind-bogglingly boring!
 
I see a major fail here - if you have a new wardrobe you must throw all old clothes away and buy new clothes - That is what wife always does - I never change my wardrobe as my clothes all feel comfortable and I am a scruffy bugger anyway.
 
Not "today" but over the last few weeks doing a couple of hours here and there in the evenings, gone from this

Stripped, skimmed and painted. Few touch ups to do as the masking tape for the skirting boards took a load of paint off... But happy with it as my first ever decorating!

Also, camera on this Moto E4 is awful.

Onto a bigger project next, the lounge diner :eek:

The tenant who was occupying the house before was using the room to dry clothes as far as I can tell.... :eek: :D Window didn't look like it was ever opened either. Damp surveyor said it was only caused by condensation. Had the window opened and heating on sporadically since I moved in and it's bone dry now.

That's a good improvement! Did you end up getting it rewired?

I've had similar problems with frog tape when painting skirting, I tend to paint the skirting before cutting it now!

Nope, frankly that room can cope with 1 socket and an extension seeing as I have a laptop not a desktop these days. I'm not going for maximum aesthetics in this place as I plan to sell it on. When it comes down to a place to live in long term then I can bother with that sort of thing :p

Living room, dining room and kitchen are all fine socket wise so really it's just the two main bedrooms that are lacking with a double socket in each in bad places. So I may just see if I can get an extra socket added in each when I eventually get round to decorating them...

The top couple of thick layers are ripping off extremely easily which is good. Should mean stripping off the thin ones is a piece of cake (famous last words).
 
Also papered over wallpaper hooks is nothing. In the flat my parents just bought, some shelves had L shaped brackets to support them on the wall and they'd been plastered over!
