Oculus Rift

After a sweaty mate tried ping pong in my rift I caved in and bought some VRCovers. They are expensive, but to be fair they're nicely made and fantastically comfy. They also seem to reduce fogging for me when using the rift before it's had a chance to warm itself up.

I've not noticed a fogging difference ... then again, I'm not currently using the cloth cover, just the different facial interface.

Just took the plunged and ordered the rift + controller bundle to go along with my 1080ti.

I've got an NZXT s340 elite case, so i have the front placed HDMI output :)

I have the Widmovr lenses, and I looked into this. Unmodified they won't fit as the lower rim where the lenses bottom lugs clip over is too thick on the VR cover facial interface. You can fix this by cutting out a small section of the VR Cover interface, or paring down the thickness of the lense lugs. There are posts/videos on the net showing how to do this if you search for them.

I have not done this myself (I'd be too scared of damaging them), though I am tempted to get a VR cover interface for other people to use my rift so I don't have to remove my lenses from the Rift facial interface.

In the end I went for a pair of the Widmovr cotton covers for the standard Rift facial interface and just stick one in the wash and swap over to a clean one. They also have the advantage that they keep the lenses pretty secure too.
How do you find the widmovr covers?
Comfy?
I like the look of the vr cover interface + padded cover but i don`t like the idea of cutting either parts

Yea, don't get me wrong it's never a big issue, I mainly notice it if I jump into something active in VR shortly after turning the PC on. It clears pretty quickly anyway.

Is fov as good as vive?

No, there is a tradeoff, it is slightly smaller. However, the slightly lower fov means slightly higher clarity. I found the clarity to be more important as it actually effects gameplay. Ie leaning in on the vive to read cockpit dials, whereas the rift is slightly sharper and can read them easier :)

The covers are great. A little fiddly to get on initially, and getting the rift facial interface to click back into position with them on and the lenses installed was also awkward at first, as the elastic straps that hold the cover on can get in the way. Intially they seemed a bit scratchy (I thought they'd be softer) as they are made of cotton, but after using and washing them a couple of times they have smoothed out are very comfortable. They stay in position really well too. It's important to note they don't add any extra padding, they're just cotton material that soaks up the sweat and protects the Rift foam. They've been great for my intense BoxVR fitness sessions (though a sweatband is also recommended there!) I just stick them inside a sock and wash them with my sports gear when necessary.

I think the VR cover ones could be more comfy, especially the PU foam, but these are the best compromise if you have the lense inserts. I still plan on getting a VR cover at some point as an easy replacement for other people to use my rift, as exchanging complete facial interfaces is easier than taking the lenses out and putting them back in, and the PU is easy to wipe clean between uses.

Thanks for the info
I really like the look ofthe vr cover ones but quite a few people are saying you have to chop them to get them to fit with the prescription lenses
Decisions,decisions:p

with all this vr tech i am half tempted to startup a vr event company. Rent some big floor space and a couple of top spec vr machines and vive pros and about 10000 vr covers and away you go. The vive pro with the new tracking system has amazing range.

Twice now I've been playing Wilson's Heart for a period of between 60 to 90 minutes and my eyes begin to feel like they're straining. Probably because they are :p To the point I have to stop playing. Anyone else experience this?

I don't wear glasses and would say that my vision is very good. I hope VR isn't detrimental to it. With a desk job and watching TV, using computers and a smartphone I spend a hell of a lot of time looking at screens...

I've played for multiple hours at a time, and don't have any problems. Saying that, I normally do wear glasses and use prescription lens inserts with my Rift.

Might be worth getting an eye test though - none of us are getting any younger ;)

Don't forget the sick bags for all those people unaccustomed to a bit of VR!

So my Rift just broke, IPD sensor stopped working so stuck at 71mm regardless of slider position. Anyone else had this issue?

I had the problem where the IPD slider would move by itself, I would be playing games then a message would flash up on screen, your IPD is now 66.3 or whatever. But, I never had it stick in one position. Could be just a loose connection? Not sure how you would fix this.

I think it may have to do with the fact that in VR, although your eye divergence to focus is the same as real life, the focal length always stays the same. I guess the strain is your eyes naturally trying to change focal length as you look at different depths.

The lenses move with the slider but the value in settings doesn't change
