Oculus Rift

Is the teleportation method of movement normal? Robo recall, steam VR and blade runner all used it and I find it a little disorientating especially in a faster paced environment like robo recall. Is this just because moving with a thumb stick would increase the change of motion sickness?

The BBC ISS experience is fantastic, I did NOT have to grab my desk to stop myself falling over......not at all......
Am I the only one who likes teleportation? I can't stand that iam on roller skates free locomotion. :p

I have no problems with games using teleportation either. In works well in games that were designed to use it, like Robo Recall, but it doesn't work well in games that there is a choice of locomotion methods.

:D:D I have my touch controllers over a year now and Eleven Table Tennis was one of my first purchases. Even now, every so often I will go to lean on the table. It's amazing how it fools the mind.

Oh my, table tennis is so cool in VR! I need a bigger room so I can play it properly!

The worst part of playing TT in real life is picking the balls up and trying to find someone else who is equally as sad and wants to play for hours, VRTT solves both perfectly :D

I was playing Euro Truck Simulator in VR and whilst on a long motorway drive I went to rest my elbow on the window sill, like I do in my own car, causing me to lurch suddenly sideways as my elbow passed straight through it. Raising the armrest on my gaming chair to the same level as the window sill sorted that out though! :D:rolleyes:

Bought a few games in the encore sale.

I expect you to die, The Climb, Superhot, Drop Dead, Titanic and Apollo 11 - not bad for £35~IMO.

Only tried Superhot, which was awesome fun til I accidentally punched something in real life, (ironically enough, it was my punch bag LOL) - will wait til I get some cables to extend my play area into the living room I think.

Apollo was pretty cool too, really felt my heart pound as we were waiting to lift off with a real sense of "I want to get out" in my head. Got a bit motion sicky with some of the panning orbit shots but overall pretty good.

And on a side note- I am addicted to the Amaze Experiences app! You can guess why :P

So I may just be keeping this Rift the second time around. All I really played before was Robo Recall and Lucky's Tale but just bought Chronos and Artika 1. These really sell it to me and I think I will keep it.

I wonder what future hardware development holds. Personally I want to see a CV2 with wireless and better resolution, backwards compatible the current sensors and Touch.

how easy is it to set up the rift for ets2?

Very easy. Opt into the ETS2 oculus/vive 1.3 (SDK 1.4.0) beta on Steam.
Add -oculus to the launch options.
Then use the Oculus recenter view facility when the game is loaded to put you in the correct seating position.
Thanks for this, needed an excuse to get back into ETS2 and spend some money on their DLCs hehe.

I've found the majority of the game works perfect with the Rift and looks / feels great. The issue i have is when pressing F4 to reposition the seat, steering wheel, position in the cab etc. the Oculus view is inverted. That is if i turn my head left the screen goes right, turn right screen goes left etc. and it is vomit inducing! The rest of the game is fine but tweaking the cab settings is broken for me. Is your experience similar?

I have the Widmovr lenses, and I looked into this. Unmodified they won't fit as the lower rim where the lenses bottom lugs clip over is too thick on the VR cover facial interface. You can fix this by cutting out a small section of the VR Cover interface, or paring down the thickness of the lense lugs. There are posts/videos on the net showing how to do this if you search for them.

I have not done this myself (I'd be too scared of damaging them), though I am tempted to get a VR cover interface for other people to use my rift so I don't have to remove my lenses from the Rift facial interface.

In the end I went for a pair of the Widmovr cotton covers for the standard Rift facial interface and just stick one in the wash and swap over to a clean one. They also have the advantage that they keep the lenses pretty secure too.

After a sweaty mate tried ping pong in my rift I caved in and bought some VRCovers. They are expensive, but to be fair they're nicely made and fantastically comfy. They also seem to reduce fogging for me when using the rift before it's had a chance to warm itself up.
