This 'sugar tax' crap is doing my head in!

Be careful! Bought a Pepsi Max other week, got a horrible shock when I tasted it.

Ginger? Who the hell would make such an abomination!? On one I bought, the "Ginger" part was nowhere near as visible... :(

Lol this is one of the best drinks in the universe.

True that is one way of looking at it.

Unfortunately human beings have to constantly be saved from themselves.

It'd be good if we could only tax the individuals who can't control themselves and not the rest of us.

Or be like Japan, where being fat is socially un-acceptable.

Most employers there won't hire anyone who is fat, or if already employed will be required to go and get healthy with frequent check ups on their progress. Because if they are found to have over a certain percentage of employees overweight, the company gets fined! The result is the public is generally much more healthy. So don't have to worry about a few sugary snacks.

Much as banning alcohol would make sense from a health and crime perspective, I don't believe we will see this in our lifetime. Besides, you can make alcohol yourself without much in the way of equipment or brains. It's considerably harder to make tobacco, so the two aren't really comparable.

That's true yes about being able to make your own alcohol as opposed to tobacco, so they can't be compared. On the other hand though, people will just grow weed instead :D

Yeah, that'll go down well with the
'i love my curves' Revolution going on

Put all the good stuff behind doors that obese folks can't get through, it's just a cash grab and won't deal with the problem of peoples greed and lack of will power and is folks that like a treat now and then suffer because of it.
Doors that are approx half the width of animal door so they get stuck?:D

I’m not justifying anything. You’re the one who waded in laying into this “I love my curves” idea.

I didn't even quote you originally, but okay.

Point still stands to the original quote, making 'fat' socially unacceptable just wouldn't be 'allowed' here, despite it probably doing a load of good

lol what?? Source please.

And I do hope all the judgmental comments here are only made by people leading perfect lifestyles :p

Do your own research - google will give you all the answers you need.

That’s why they renamed Aspartame because of all the bad press it was getting.

You must have been hiding under a rock to not learn that.

Sugar has its own problems, but Aspartame is incredibly dangerous.

Renamed it? What are you drivelling about?

Aspartame is poison... so it's very bad, for everyone

No one has managed to prove some of the more serious issues it's suspected of causing. But it's known to cause migraines and possibly have other effects on the brain.

It's also counter-productive if trying to lose weight, as it slows down the rate at which the body can break down fats. So you also need to avoid "diet" drinks which contain it as if they were sugary ones.

Just lol. I am challenging you to prove your statement? I don't need to do my own research as I have seen countless decent sources say it is perfectly safe for human consumption in the amounts used for food/drinks. I'm not doubting myself
