America: 'People always ask, what can we do to stop this?'
Countries where this doesn't happen: 'Well, here's what we did—'
America: 'Sadly, there is nothing that can be done.'

We should be shocked but sadly it’s happening too often and we see little in terms of grown up conversations by the US leaders which in turn reduces our sympathy.

All we hear is the wall and Muslim bans, not sure what the correlation is between this and mass shootings but I’ll hazard a guess of 0%

I can't believe this has happened after all of the changes they made after Sandy Hook...

I guess all the thoughts and prayers after the other 17 shootings this year just weren't enough.

but my amendment rights......

Because your semi is really going to be able to stop the state if it really wanted you dead.

America full of dumb ***** right the way to the top.

Don’t worry everyone, Trump says it’s not about guns it’s about mental health.

It must be that nowhere else has mental health problems, that explains why mass shootings are so prevalent in the US, not the guns.

In fact guns saved the day.....

So when someone in the UK gets stabbed, or gets splashed with acid, knives and acid are to blame? Do we just start banning all knives and acid now? It has everything to do with mental health.

Tighter gun laws in the US won't solve anything, cities like Chicago that have the strictest gun laws in the country has one of the worst rates of gun crime. Banning guns in a country that has around 300 million of them, will make law-abiding citizens easier targets for criminals and unable to protect themselves. Only way to solve it is if you can take every gun off the street overnight, which will never happen.

Think the only way of minimizing school shootings, and prevent many deaths is to allow schools to arm themselves

There needs a be a vetting program for gun ownership. Every time there's a shooting the shooter usually turns out to have mental health issues. There's no way these people should be able to legally purchase a gun in the first place.

True but at the same time looking at countries elsewhere that have high civilian ownership of firearms, etc. but make it harder for people with histories of mental illness, etc. from acquiring firearms legally and better firearm regulation in general have far lower instances of events like these - a few relatively small changes would likely see a reduction of firearms incidents by somewhere around 75%.

There already are strict background checks for buying a gun, but you can't stop criminals from breaking the law and obtaining one illegally in a country that has millions of them
