They were aimed at VDSL however they do demodulate ADSL also. You may be lucky, your current router may have a bridge mode so it will act like a modem only? I can vouch for the Hg’s though. I had one when I had FTTC and I’ve also put one in at my mums and they’ve been solid.

Whats the issue with this DMZ and double NAT. I've done this last week with my new USG and BT HH3, and it all seems to working ok? What am i missing/not working properly by using the HH3 rather than just a modem?

It works, but it's a bodge It overcomplicates things, why have 2 devices routing when you can have just 1?

I've also seen strange things happen with dropped packets when the WAN interface of a USG has an RFC1918 address.

I have a USG 3P and two Wireless AP AC-Lites.

One of the AP's is showing up as Connected(Wireless).

Both AP's are plugged into the USG 3P, one in LAN1 and one in LAN2

Why is one connected wirelessly?

Lan1 and lan2 aren't connected. It's for creating a seperate network or dual WAN failover.

You should connect a switch to lan1, then connect both aps to that switch.

How old are the APS? If they're fairly new, they will be the new model. So you can use any Poe switch with them.

If you want to stick with unifi switch for the stats, then get the US-8-60W.

The devices have the Mac address printed on the back. You can see the Mac of each device in the unifi controller.

Sure have suggested that my (admittedly cheap) tplink modem/router is responsible for my upload speed being about 10% of what it should be. I’ve a router from when I was on FTTC in the UK, so buying a cheap modem is the ideal way to test!

Have they changed it so the USG no longer replies to ping? Mine doesn't appear to be working any more and I've not changed anything myself.

Mine still replies to pings on the WAN interface and both VLAN's on the LAN side. I'm running 4.4.20dev on my USG.

Just bitten the bullet and gone for an US-8-150w for the garage (Sip phone, CCTV & UAP-Pro & backup server) and a security gateway to replace my ageing Asus RT-N16 with Tomato as it's showing its age with 80Mb/Sec FTTC. The Ubiquiti kit is mounting up, should nicely compliment the 24 port PoE (250w) switch I bought last week and the three UAP-Pro access points. I'm looking forward to setting it all up now, along with getting all the green circles showing up on the controller!

UniFi 5.8.6 testing has been released but I would strongly suggest avoiding it. It seems to put USG's into a provisioning and rebooting loop, mine included. For now I've shutdown my controller until I can troubleshoot more.

It wouldn't surprise me if this release gets pulled. I'll go back to 5.8.3 later.

Edit - As expected they've pulled the release.

Normally I wait too. This is the first (and last) time I didn't.

In the end I restored a backup of my VM and then restored the most recent backup of 5.8.3. I could have spun up a new VM in about the same time but this way needed less involvement from me.

Well thanks to the snow I left work early today and got the VPN side of things setup, I decided as it is in the GUI to just use L2TP. The only issue though is that the DNS doesn't seem to work over the VPN, so I'm reliant on using IP addresses to view things such as CCTV, any ideas?

Sounds like you're not pushing LAN to WAN/VPN. I can't remember the exact wording off the top of my head.

I did wonder if it's a firewall issue. Someone on the UniFi forums suggested changing the DNS settings on my laptop, which isn't really ideal as it's supposedly something you just setup a PSK, user name and password and it should just work. Mainly though I used my phone (iPhone 6s) to connect to home and there is no option I can find to set DNS on there. For something that is supposed to be easy and in the grand scheme of things not overly complicated, it's certainly not made easy.

My current router is located behind my TV on a unit. If I was to purchase the Edge X and a single AC lite would it be ok to have them both on the unit just replacing my router? I've never had any wifi problems throughout my house with routers before but I don't really want to start putting wires upstairs.

I'm currently running my Unifi Controller on a Rasberry Pi, but thinking of moving it to an Azure VM instead.. anyone else using a cloud controller? any pitfalls I need to look out for?
