My current router is located behind my TV on a unit. If I was to purchase the Edge X and a single AC lite would it be ok to have them both on the unit just replacing my router? I've never had any wifi problems throughout my house with routers before but I don't really want to start putting wires upstairs.
If your current setup works I don’t see why there would be a problem.

If it works on the Pi then I'd leave it, I used to run an old version on one but moved over to a WHS 2011 equiped Dell T20 as it was an old slow/laggy version on the Pi. Echoing what has been said above though, I've not tried the cloud controller, but prefer the idea of keeping it "in house".

I finally got around to rearranging a few things last night. I've replaced 2 x US-8-150W and a US-8 with the freebie US-24-250W.

The 2 x US-8-150W's were doing plain old switching whilst the US-8 was acting as an iSCSI switch and now having just a single switch is much tidier.

One of the US-8-150W's will be going to my brother and the other switches will probably find their way onto eBay.

Need some help here.

Installed 2 Ubiquiti outdoor AP’s a few years ago. They were connected to a cloud controller but that controller is on the verge of expiring in a couple of days. The computer I had the controller software installed on is gone. The AP’s were setup and I never accessed the controller again.

How can I access these AP’s now to make changes or add another AP to the controller? Do you need the cloud controller?

All I know is I have a ‘site’ and had two AP’s linked to it.

You can always access your site from Unifi.ubnt.com

Enter the credentials you used to log in before and it will find your cloud controller. You can then extend your hosting.

Failing that you will need to manually Factory reset the APs and re-adopt them onto a new controller.

I tried that but can’t even recognise my email address. Basically it tells me I don’t have an account.

Then you’re looking at a full factory reset. New controller software and it will all just come back up.

Had an interesting issue that took some fixing. My Asterisk SIP setup didn't play nicely with the Security Gateway. I prefer to have no port forwarding rules setup due to potential security risks, mainly for convenience devices such as LightwaveRF, although I've heard some of the connected appliances to be lacking in security, any internal access is through VPN (now working as previously discussed in this thread), however I discovered on Thursday that I couldn't make or receive calls, I forwarded the SIP port 5060 and could then receive them. Upon closer inspection and browsing of the Ubiquiti forums I found in services the option to disable SIP. As soon as I'd done that making and receiving calls was possible even after deleting the 5060 port forwarding rule.

Hi guys,

I just started looking around to replace my router as the amount of wireless devices on my network is too much for it. It's centered in the middle of my house under the stairs so all devices are having to go though walls to get connectivity.
I'm thinking a USG and two AP's. One for up and the other for downstairs. What kit would you guys recommend to achieve this? I don't want to say do this as cheaply as possible, buy cheap pay twice etc, but I would like to keep the cost down.

I'd go with exactly what you've described, a USG and the APs. Unless you live in a concrete bunker, two AC-Lites will probably suffice - they are roughly £70, the USG can be had for £100 or thereabouts, then since your wanting to keep costs down, you can get PoE injectors for them.

I would be tempted to look at a pair of AP-AC-IW or IW-Pro because 1 cable to each gets you an AP and 2 RJ45s.

Or a Ubiquiti Aircube

Most people just opt for the Lite or LR AP, some if their devices support 3x3 get the Pro.

Aircube AC maybe. You get ports and WiFi in a PoE package. I like Unifi because it all just works together. It’s not the cheapest (it looks downright expensive compared to some ASUS, TP-Link and Netgear kit) but it is wonderful to work with once you get your head around the hosted controller concept.

5.8.8 controller is out, biggest new thing is allowing you use the "VOIP" port on the USG as a second LAN port.

And also has anyone had any issues enabling the "Multicast Enhancement" and the "Fast Roaming" options?
