What has annoyed me is that Asda has raised the price of the sugar free monster to match the higher price of the full of sugar one.

no one has forced them to change the ingredients, that's a business choice they made.

If there wasn't a sugar tax, they wouldn't of changed it (greedy, oh no we can't lose money!). Now the average consumer loses (me) because I will no longer drink Sprite.

if you are representative of the average consumer, they will lose money and change it back, just like many other drink companies including coke have had to do in the past.

Just to rub it in a bit, our supermarket has a habit of dropping bottles behind the shelves and not pulling them out for weeks. Managed to pick up a bottle of full sugar Sprite today.

Acesulfame potassium, ADI 15, MSI 200.

Advantame, ADI 32.8, MSI 20,000.

Aspartame, ADI 50, MSI 200.

Neotame, ADI 0.3, MSI 7,000 to 13,000.

Saccharin, ADI 15, MSI 200 to 700.

Sucralose, ADI 5, MSI 600.

Are all very bad for you, so this sugar tax is a farce.

I could be tinfoil hat gear, but am sure its to make everyone ill so the pharmaceuticals companies can cash in.

Example the Formula for Aspartame is C14 H18 N2 O5

Formula for natural sugar is C12 H22 O11

Is just part of the Monosaccharides group. What are they going to next tax, apples, oranges, pears, grapes etc. :confused:

Look at the number of Carbon atoms in both structures.

Less carbon in sugar, more hydrogen, no nitrogen, but more oxygen.

Aspartame has more carbon, less hydrogen, nitrogen and less oxygen.

The number of carbon alone is pretty irrelevant I mean what your looking st with just numbers could describe a number of molecucles

If its got more O arms then it will bond with your chemical process and therefore cause trouble.

If you look at the molecule structure of sugar it is quiet closed as opposed to the Aspartame structure, which is open and looking for trouble. :eek:

Having read your scientific opinion on freezing food, I'm get my advice on Aspartame elsewhere thanks itchy.
