What film did you watch last night?

A Quiet Place - very good, 7/10.

I would have liked to see it from 'day 1' to see what happened, i.e. how the situation occurred, but definitely worth a watch nonetheless.

Future World - I tried, I really did...but this train wreck got abandoned about 30 minutes in which is about 25 minutes longer than I should have watched.

Thoroughbreds - Meh. Would rather have watched Heathers. It wasn't terrible but it didn't really leave any kind of lasting impression.

Black Panther
- Average. Michael B. Jordan deserved better in terms of a role in these films. As did I suppose Andy Serkis.

Dunkirk was watchable, and I don't regret having done so, but it certainly wasn't the second coming of film and I wasn't blown away by it. I'd still recommend watching it though as it's not a bad film, just a victim of "hype" or hyperbolic reviews.

Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me

Ignored the advice on here not to bother with it. How wrong I was. Terrible 2/10

Can't believe this became such a thing in the late 90s

It's not really a movie but I watched 'Frankie Boyle - Hurt like you've never been loved' last night on Netflix and it was pretty good but I feel he's really numbed down the offensive comedy compared to his older stand-up.

I still haven't seen Dunkirk. Keep reading too much negativity that puts me off.

Shame, as I usually love Christopher Nolan's films.

I didn't think it was great, but, It is worth watching at least once for the camera work alone. It has become one of my goto movies for showing the picture quality of my OLED TV.

I will write why I didn't like it in spoilers if you are interested.

7 Days in Entebbe - 5/10 - It's a bit of a hard one to rate really as the build up to the assault is extremely well done yet the "action", the whole climax of the film is a huge disappointment. While the well used "soldier argues with wife/GF about being dragged away" trope is just boring I quite liked the juxtaposition of the dancer girlfriend and her soldier boyfriend both being shown at the same time, her during opening night and him during the assault but it massively took away any sense of drama from the assault and transferred it to her dance scene. I'll be honest, I don't think I'm able to understand what that dance scene was a metaphor for and there's a further dance scene during the credits which is beyond my abilities to comprehend it's meaning. Acting wise both Bruhl and Pike did a very good job, the actor playing Idi Amin was having a real blast and the whole crew playing the Israeli cabinet/military were great. The script was tight but it was just the direction which lost it's way at the end for me.

So over all, very good build-up (7/10) but very poor ending (2/10).

I will probably get round to watching it eventually, but I'll have to convince the Mrs :p

The Darkest Hour - I was looking forward to this but found it largely annoying. It probably was well acted but damn, listening to that jabbering stuttering voice for so long really started to grate. I also found Churchill, as portrayed, to be more stubborn than courageous. Also, that train scene... wat.

Didn’t particularly enjoy it and I don’t feel any urge to see it again - 5.5/10

Terminator (1984) - The original and (IMHO) still the best. So many classic one liners, the women with "big" 80's hair, classic guitar rock at Tech Noir (back when they still played rock music in nightclubs!) just all round 6 star (out of 5) movie.

Black Panther - 6.5/10. badly let down by some seriously dodgy cgi, yes armoured Rhino's I'm looking at you!.

In total agreement with you. I love Terminator 2 but T1 is just brilliant :)

A Quiet Place - 5/10

An interesting premise, but with characters making stupid choices had me in A Screaming Place. So, if you suspected all common sense and any logical behaviour its slightly enjoyable.
