What film did you watch last night?

Ant Man and the Wasp ! 8/10

The same winning formula as everything else.
It's not Awesome, its not rubbish its a firmly decent enough Marvel film that you know exactly what you are getting.
Predictable enough story, funny enough gags, more progression to the overall direction.
STAY for the end credits of course!

Prepare for bombing run.... in space.... where along long time ago, mavity applied to things it doesn’t, and no one thought to pull the director kn it, or just change the cgi round a bit to have it make sence.

Bombs away!

According to the Visual Dictionary.

Bombs don't technically "drop" in microgravity, but are impelled from their racks by sequenced electromagnetic plates in the clip. The bombs are then drawn magnetically to their unfortunate targets.

I've always taken the "parsec" thing to be talking about distance and the Solo prequel makes it explicit that it's definitely talking about a short cut off the normal route taken to get to the place, rather than just doing it quickly.

No that was an excuse made up later for an apaul8ng lack of knowledge.
They then came up with a very bright excuse, decades later.

The same ****wit ruined an entire franchine by having an old man with a whip find an alien spaceship, I do not trust him in the slightest in regards explanations.

You do know that these are works of fiction

Yeah but there is fiction where you can suspend your disbelief and it makes some kind of sense if you don't think about it too closely and still follows some kind of rules and there is fiction that it is impossible to ignore it is stupid and removes any potential for any kind of illusion of rules which then means anything can happen which makes a movie weak.

On another note I watched the new movie on netflix "How it ends" - 3-4/10 that is only worth watching if you are into the apocalypse/disaster genre or have some time to kill - some guy takes a trip across the US that somehow results in the death of almost anyone he comes into contact with largely because he isn't paying attention against the backdrop of an almost entirely irrelevant non-specific disaster that plays pretty much no role in the movie and comes to probably the most unoriginal ending in cinema history.

Clash of the Titans: Imagine someone broke into the Game of Thrones script writing office, set fire to all the scripts, got high on a cocktail of turps, runny dog poo, and crushed vitamin tablets, then used the ashes and a spittle-laden finger to dawb a plot onto the nearest wall. Well, that script would still be more engaging than this.

Pretty though. And at least now I know where 'release the Kraken!' comes from. I will use the phrase every time I have a no.2 now.

which version?

I'm assuming he's talking about the 2010 version, which is an extremely poor remake of the 1981 classic (even if the CGI is a bit ropey these days).

Skyscraper (2018) - 4/10

Dumb story and corny dialogue, but there’s enough close calls and set pieces to keep you entertained.

The special effects look great and the acting is good, but the characters and plot are very cliché.

The original COTT had a charm to it that the remake gets nowhere near.

I remember seeing all the original stop motion capture models as a kid. I think they was at the museum of moving image. When I went there was a Ray Harryhausen exhibition on.

How it Ends - 6/10

On Netflix, well acted but ultimately didn't really go anywhere. Some good visuals throughout.

American Assassin - 7/10

Also on Netflix, was surprisingly decent. Not the best of this genre or anything but lead actor was quite impressive (especially as he was on the Teen Wolf TV series!). Michael Keaton was enjoyable and the action was well done. Opening scene drew me in as felt realistic, or as realistic as I would imagine that kind of situation to be. Villain was a bit meh but hope there is a sequel.

Star Trek - Into Darkness - 4/10

Started OK - well, even - went steadily downhill. By near the end it was truly awful.

Honestly I don't think they can make a much worse Star Trek films that the first two reboot films. Miserable, both of them.

Johnny Dangerously. Humour can be timeless in my world, sadly though this one seems to have clung to my younger self. Still amusing, but not the laugh out loud it once was.
