I bought 1 and took it back as for the money it was no different to a £20 fan from screwfix... Used to live in Edinburgh near the RBS tech building, so thinking of moving back..

I've had mine since about 2013 and it's still going strong, you generally find that the prices for them go right down in the winter time, but will be a good investment for the next year, considering that we're likely to experience more of these heatwaves (apparently)

Evaporative coolers are not worth the money, you get the same effect if you freeze a washing bowl/bucket of water and stick it behind a fan to blow the iced air on you
Only a mild 24 degrees here, been absolutely roasting the past few days.

Here though its how humid it is that hurts me, the heat doesnt really bother me all that much.

It definitely wasn't 60C. Considering the highest ever recorded on earth is 56.7C and Cyprus all time record is 45.6C
I think you will find your mistaken, and please read my post you even quoted it. NEAR 60c.
Recorded 57c, but many people saw above that around Nicosia, 63C.

Yeah obviously actual properly recorded temperatures are one thing - my sister has had a couple of holidays in Cyprus when the temperatures in the shade were reading well up in the 50s.
Indeed i swore i would never go back that time of year. I find June much better now, but i hope next year its cooler, its 40+ there right now.
Just shows outside official recordings temperatures go much higher.

81c i dont even dare imagine how that would feel i bet you would cook.
Anyway back to the topic, after having been in 57c i will never complain about heat. Sleeping is the only time its an issue.

Are you surprised. Prices are inflated at the minute as well, best tough it out this year and invest in one come winter ready for next year.That's all good but no one has stock
