GPU prices go boom

My PS4 Pro doesn't have those issues. All the games you mentioned run amazing on my TV. It must be your TV mate.

You mean your TV somehow magically runs those games at higher FPS than they are designed to run at? That's one amazing TV you have. Motion blur is a thing in games. In GoW you can adjust it, but I couldn't find a setting I liked and turning it off caused other issues. These things are part and parcel of console gaming, nothing to do with the TV.

Yes, those games run very smooth for me. I have none of the issues you mentioned. Maybe you need to turn GAME mode on. Motion blur isn't a problem.

I think while consoles are still mostly running at 30fps (and even when they finally do 60 consistently), PC's and GPU's will always have a place. My son brought his PS4 Pro over recently and we spent some time playing God of War, Horizon and Monster Hunter World and while they looked beautiful (partly due to the OLED), I couldn't swap over to one. The motion blur on GoW for example was horrible and 30fps was just no thanks. I was glad to get back to my lowly 100hz LCD.

You also have to take into account the IQ of PC vs Console. What have they adjusted on consoles to get the 60FPS?

My son doesn't have an issue either. It's what you are used to I guess but coming from a PC monitor it was bad. Motion Blur is a problem. It's there so 30fps doesn't look so ****. Maybe you don't notice it and that's fine. Doesn't mean everyone will be the same.

I can only compare MHW which looked beautiful on the PS4 (although I suspect a lot of this is down to the TV) but on the PC everything looks cleaner, sharper and more detailed (although the black levels of the TV really make everything pop).

I game on my PC as well. Acer X34a G-Sync ultra-Wide 100hz GTX 1080 and also game on my PS4 Pro. Both are great. I guess it comes down to some are more sensitive then others.

I bet!

Cost effective, high resolution, high refresh rate, HDR monitors can't come soon enough IMO.

God of War looked amazing when it wasn't moving. ;)

I just read a couple more reviews of the Acer and Asus 4k HDR and the general consensus, even with the chroma issue and fan, is that they are amazing for games. If only the price was more reasonable but at the moment it's a big leap for a 27" monitor.

Right back on topic, take your "screen" chat elsewhere :p

Now that we know the new GPU's are coming out. Is anyone going to wait until the launch, then go buy a 10** series card?

depending on price and performance when benched it is something I *may* do... however if i do that i could well go 2nd hand...... unless there is a new fire sale with an amazing games bundle (that vega 64 one looks great and if that was bundled with a gtx 1080ti for £550 i could easily consider biting)

I want a really cheap 1070 with a reference PCB. Was watching a few EVGA Superclocks on fleabay and they were going for about £250-350 with warranty left, but that's still a bit rich for my empty wallet, especially as I'll be ripping the DVI off it :p

So if there's some stupid deals I may bite, otherwise I'll just continue to pine for mod projects I can't afford right now...*woe is me*

Were expecting Pascal cards to stabilise where they are now, or even move up a little.

This either means Turing is expected to be very expensive until old stock shifts, or it’s an incentive to buy before Turing releases.

I’m going with both.

Nooooooooooooooooooo

In all fairness prices have already moved up a little, a few weeks ago we hit as low as:
1080Ti @ £629.99
1080 @ £439.99
1070Ti @ £389.99
1070 @ £329.99 (Still available but nearly sold out)
1060 @ £224.99

All have increased now bar the 1070 at £329.99 as we still have some old stock left purchased with a much stronger pound. To put it simply fresh Pascal stock is now costing more, less support from board partners, guess they have stock under control but also in the last 2-3 weeks the pound has weakened and hit all time lows, which has a real negative impact on PC component pricing in general.

Imo we’re going to see hella expensive new cards, if miners don’t sweep them up and memory manufacturers don’t gouge then I think we’ll see a small drop in 3 to 4 months. I still think we’ll see a ti, and that’ll drop prices lower. But overall until AMD re-enters the space I see eye watering, wallet wincing prices for some time.

The ramp up in price and continued sales of the previous gen even at the peak of pricing means I doubt we’ll ever see the lows we used to again.

I’ll either wait for the new ti or grab a 1080ti if it’s cheap enough on the MM. But not until the right monitor exists. We’ll see new releases soon to complement the next gen, but I think when the ti drops might be when HDR, gsync, Fald monitors exist properly. Cannot wait, it’s going to hurt my wallet but dayum.

Lol this is far from true. I ain't super rich however a TV gets 1000s of hrs use over its life so is easy to get it past the boss. Also my fairly high end 4k TV was far from 4k (£1680) not cheap by any stretch but not 3k (funnily enough the one I wanted was 3k)
But that said the price conscious are not looking to buy an 1180 OR A 1080TI. IF you game at 1080p you are lucky as no need to upgrade

FF15 at 1080p 60fps Probably needs at least a gtx 1080 LOL it has bad optimisation with parts of the game causing massive extra load on the gpu than other parts.. A gtx 1070ti might get away with it as well, I calculated my 1070 is about 30% short on power to be 60fps consistent.
