Which card will you be buying?

Still using a Titan X (Maxwell) I bought near launch for £850. Most I had ever spent on a graphics card. Never really struggled with anything yet, I considered a replacement this generation but not at these prices.

I ordered a the Gigabyte RTX 2080Ti Windforce X3 OC 11GB card  ... I will order a 2nd one when release comes and performance numbers are up and if it looks good.

I was considering the nVidia F.E card but that cooler reminded me too much of ->

Great :)...now , as you have money to burn , can you buy me one of those 1080ti cards please

thanks :)

If that's the case, then the 2080 will be less performance than a 1080ti? If so, I just couldn't justify it... minimal gains for maximum price. :(

It depends on what efficiency improvements they have made... but looking at the stats... the 2080 will show similar performance to the 1080ti. With IPC improvements, it might just edge it out - but I don't see there being too much in it.

Will be nice to be wrong...

Not sure I will be doing a review or if I do, it might just be a written one, as time isn't on my side so much lately. I spend more time out Kayaking this time of year and not so much gaming but I will see how time is.

Hopefully you will do, I want to see how it performs before committing to buy. Looking at the same MSI as well unless EVGA do a nice looking FTW card.

I would have voted no but the poll was closed?

I have a couple of reasons.

1) I have a 1440p / 144Hz monitor and my water cooled Titan XP typically gives me >100 fps in most titles. If I buy an RTX 2080 Ti then I'm not really going to notice increased frame rates and I will not pay £2300 for a 4K / 144Hz / HDR monitor by ASUS or ACER.
2) I'm not a huge fan of OR have not really been looking forward to any of the announced titles that support Ray Tracing to upgrade specifically to play that game. Don't care about Battlefield V...

I don’t see how you could pre order without knowing the actual performance figures. Hense why I have voted no in the poll.

I mean imagine getting the card after spending £12-1300 and it’s only 20% quicker. I would cry.

I shan’t be making my mind up until we see some actual gaming benchmarks. And personally anything below 50% in games (faster than 1080Ti) and its another big no from me.

You're at least going to get 20% increase over the 1080Ti as it has 20% more CUDA's. Plus the 1080Ti will eventually be gimped by drivers to make the 2080Ti look better.

Definitely not. In fact, I now have two reasons to stay away from nVidia: lack of FreeSync support and price.

However, even if they were the same price as the previous generation and also added FreeSync I still wouldn't bite simply because my current card does what I want from it.

A funny thing to remember with polls - "would you buy a 2080Ti" how many wanted to but wouldn't have anyway, and how many who replied never had an intention because they weren't planning to upgrade.

I think if you'd asked at the time of the 1080 launch the results have been different due to their being no Ti version until months later. From my PoV it might now be much more cost effective to lag behind the curve, buy a 1080 Ti for say £350- £400 when they reach that price point.

If sales of the new RTX series are slow, that time might be a long time coming, but if Nvidia do as rumoured still have a lot of product to get rid of there might well be some bargains coming for new unused product before late September.

It would be interesting to hear other posters thoughts on the price future of the 1080Ti both new & used.

The shipping dates are now back a month on the founders Ti... looks like I’ll get an AIB.

What’s the latest on warranty for removing stock cooler (apart from EVGA)? Giga/MSI?
