Health and life

I need to buy a small house as I want my daughter to come stay with me 50% of the time.

So, if I used up most of my savings buying a place and then some time down the line found I couldn't work, nobody could force me to sell my property to pay for my upkeep?

I don't think a Chiropractor is the way forward as I have 2 bulging discs, a prolapse disc and nerves being squashed. Plus burning on read upper legs.
At the moment they dont make you sell your house if you need to claim. It is just savings that count towards if you get help or not.

That is at the moment god knows what a Tory government might do in the future depending how brexit goes.

I see. Thanks for that

It’s not the same though is it?

Kind of is. All around the same topic. There was another even longer thread, but I think that's been deleted by the looks of it. That thread had a huge amount of good information and suggestions about what to do in regards to both his housing situation and work life. People even offered to help look for properties if he provided his actual location, but he just ignored it.

He's stated many times that he has the £££ from his house sale after his divorce, he's asked for advice regarding getting a small mortgage for a bigger property, but is concerned about not being able to work and not being able to pay the mortgage and people have gave him sound advice about contacting the CA previously, tried to put aside his concerns about a small mortgage etc but he just ignores it.

Yet he even said he put in an offer - https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/t...t-to-exchange.18591082/page-180#post-31677505 then survey arranged - https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/t...t-to-exchange.18591082/page-180#post-31682795 then nothing all the below happened...

Here he says he pulled out of a flat purchase because of 'doubts' again and that he may need an operation on his back - https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/t...t-to-exchange.18591082/page-184#post-31743615

This one he had 'doubt' - https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/t...t-to-exchange.18591082/page-185#post-31764558

This one because of a 'community centre' near by - https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/t...t-to-exchange.18591082/page-188#post-31788249

But then he said he pulled out of a purchase because of the neighbours - https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/t...t-to-exchange.18591082/page-187#post-31776636

And then another offer accepted on a flat - https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/t...t-to-exchange.18591082/page-192#post-31835923

I leave it up to the mods.

All he is doing is trolling. Going off topic. Just trying to annoy me and divert things.

I thought I'd read this thread before. Thanks Azza, thought I was losing my marbles for a second there.

Lol at same thread over and over again.

Mate, spend the money on getting your back fixed, go private etc.... get the quality of life.

Owning property is far from the be-all and all that

+1 for this, if the NHS have failed you so far, this might be your only option.

As others have said, if you really can't work then you will be entitled to disability benefits, however your primary concern should be getting your back sorted.

I'd like to hear more about what kind of care/ consult you've received for it so far, as I have a friend in a similar situation, however we might be at risk of this turning into a medical thread.

I'm going to throw a curve ball here. Well, something for you to tuck away behind your ear.

If you were to buy a house whilst in employment, and then give up work due to ill health (benefits?).....could you then get a lodger to rent out your spare room?

My parents do this and they get £600 a month......they say it's the best thing they have ever done. Done it for three years now. Hardly ever see the lodger, and the money is nice.

First one they had was polish (an English>Polish translator for computer software), second was a teacher (she was nice)....and the one they have now is an indian fella. The polish guy kept giving my dad bottles of vodka when he went to visit his family lol My dad loved that. The best thing about it, is that Indian lad is helping dad paint the fence haha Brilliant.

  1. Go to GP
  2. Get referral to a hospital, orthopaedic specialist
  3. Receive medical support for back issues
  4. Go to Citizens Advice
  5. Get advice from professionals for financial support if work suffers
  6. Find 2 bedroom flat / house within budget
  7. Put offer on said property
  8. Wait
  9. Carry on working if the professional medical help works
  10. Pay for properly
  11. Live in house
  12. Success

Trolling or not, this is the best advice and what you should have done at the back end of last year. I'm not sure what response you're expecting from this thread that hasn't been provided in the last X threads.

Lots of issues have arisen. Set backs with finances, health and work. It's been a very rough 6 months.

My mother has had many ops on her back she's been really bad for a good 15 years and hasn't had any help at all, it's very annoying when you see other people fiddle the system.
