I've watched all of the new star wars films at the Glasgow IMAX. I think for the next one I will give that a miss and just go to the normal cinema. £10 cheaper!

I haven't even bothered watching the last two at the cinema. Not even seen Solo.

Disney have well and truly killed star wars. I hate to say it, but even the Prequels were better! Although I have to say rogue one wasn't bad.

The prequels may have been poor, but at least they were recognisably star wars.

My ranking:
Empire strikes back
A new hope
Return of the Jedi
Revenge of the sith
Rogue one
Attack of the clones
Phantom menace
The force awakens
The last Jedi

Not seen Solo, so can't comment.

If you enjoyed Rogue One, you should give Solo a chance. It is so much better than any of the new crop, well written, nicely put together and most importantly, it is exciting! I'm very sad that TLJ has stopped people from giving Solo the chance it deserves.

Yes, I do keep hearing that solo is actually not a bad film. I'll definitely get round to watching it sometime.

Just didn't want to cough up £20 to see it at the cinema.

As long as he's ticking those all important boxes with the film's he makes he'll keep getting work.
Quality and story don't really matter these days.

Probably best to justs write off anything after 6 as a bad dream. As mentioned some time back even though the prequels were not as good as the original trilogy they at least felt like star wars, were at least coherant and stuck to the already defined internal logic of the star wars universe.

Disney hoped they could churn out whatever flash trash they wanted with the bare minimum of star wars stickers plastered on top to keep the merchandise selling and distract/confuse the fanboys enough to keep them paying up.

The problem for me is that cinematic star wars is the Skywalker story. Now any link to this is dead really what is the point? They need to basically skip 9 and move onto whatever abominations they can conjure up in the star wars universe for mr johnsons trilogy. Every part at least needs a jaunt to a far away casino to find a mcguffin hacker for me to consider watching them again.

Most definitely this

What appalled me most about the last Jedi was what they turned the force into. They threw all the rules out of the window and turned it into a cheap magic trick.

And don't get me started on what they turned Luke into, a sci-fi Victor Meldrew with a penchant for milking space cows.

Oh dear :(

What rules? Like Lucas himself changing the force from an energy that binds and surrounds us to a bacteria in your blood? And this from the guy who created Star Wars!

Main reason i didn't watch this in protest so to speak. Will watch it two weeks time when it is out on home media.

Red letter media guy nailed it for me when he said the set pieces in the original trilogy were setup with genuine obstacles to overcome. On the latest films they are setup with a dumb comedy moment. I knew the comedy element was an issue to me but he defined why really well.

Although fantasy, there was always a seriousness to the original Star Wars and Star Trek that I loved. They had comedy moments but they weren’t like national lampoons!

Enjoyed the TLJ, no more full of holes and naff cheesy bits than the rest of the SW films.

I didn't avoid Solo because I was in a rage about TLJ, I didn't go and see Solo because I have no interest in paying for what looks like a lame-ass fanservice circle-jerk. I'll catch it when it's free on a streaming service.
