The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

Out that list, I would first watch Another, Elfen Lied, Hellsing Ultimate, Blue Gender, Blood+ & C and Gantz, would also add Genocyber, M.D. Geist and there is the whole Devilman series. Maybe Bio Hunter too

None of these in order, but I feel these are the most hardcore out that list.

thanks, added to my list

Wow thanks for that really helpful and I will try some of them ones you have recommended and see how I get on

Chobits is a love story between a female robot and a teenager. If you decide to watch it because it gets really profound in the midway bit when it starts to talk about how humans relay on human robot relationships rather than with each other. I think it was making a commentary on the raise of mobile phone use at the time and how everyone was glued to them instead of just talking to each other.

Either way it's deeper than on the surface where it looks like a boy ***** sex robot anime. I loved it in the end

Watched Batman Ninja last night, it wasn't bad but it wasn't great. It's got a very unique art style and it covers nearly ever single anime trope going.

The Cowboy Bebop Ultimate edition set is showing on alltheanime's site, SRP £300 :p

I love the look of it, and would really like it, but unless they do an offer around the £150 mark (or less) there is no way I can even attempt to justify buying it, especially as I've already got it on DVD and blu-ray.

if I had known that they were doing a complete package (series and movie) I would have held out longer but I already bought complete blu-ray set plus blu-ray movie at the end of last year. so I can't justify getting it. as for the price like all thing alltheanime.com I suspect close to release date they do a 2 tier pre-order like they did with other ultimate edition, were early bird prices, then close to release price increase a bit then after release date it goes to full price. so it might get £150-179 price tag

Finished 's2' of Fate Last Encore I can't understand why they weren't released with s1 as they finish the story off completely.

Agree with Werewolf, there are some good classics there. Also don't write things off because their name or cover may seem a bit childish. Quite often even things that seem that way can have good plot twists that hit you right in the feels.

Having got back from a few weeks in Japan at the end of last week I spent yesterday evening watching something a bit different. It's a BD I picked up which is Radwimps and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra in concert playing the music from Your Name along with the film running on a big screen in the background. Really good watch.

I've started watching (finally) Sound Euphonium season 1, which I've had sat on the side for 6 weeks, only a couple of episodes in but I think I'm going to enjoy it:)

I also got an email from TRSI saying the Patlabor Mobile Police Ultimate Collection BD set is in, and if I knew it would play on region B players I would probably buy straight after Christmas:)

im also tempted at possible getting the Patlabor the Mobile Police Ultimate Collection too just got to find right place to order it, as for it been region a or region a/b that not a problem for me as I took the foresight to buy multi-region blu-ray player few years back.

I keep thinking of region free/multi region BD players, but I'm reluctant to get one as I don't want to end up with a load of discs that I may have issues playing in the future :(
I've got hundreds of R1 DVD's which I'm a little worried about playback on non PC platforms as it is.

I'm hoping that someone like ATA will release the set here, but suspect the cost of getting it through the BBFC may be far too high for 33 hours of what will be a niche release:( (although if they can do a shared release with Madman it would cut the mastering/replication costs).

MVM already said that they wouldn't release the TV series over here because of the costs involved in getting all the episodes through the BBFC which is the reason why we've only gotten the OVA episodes (also the blu-rays in the ultimate collection are more then likely to be geo locked and not region locked so even modded players might not be able to play them even though I think that the latest releases that are geo locked won't work on those that have the country code set to Japan).

from what I read most players can change the country code without restrictions. I have to try and pick up a cheap geo-lock title try it.

That is not necessary true. Whilst it is possible to change region code on multi-region players it is not always possible to change the country code to US if that is being used for a check, or an additional check. For instance it is not possible on either of my multi-region Panasonic BD players.

well I order outbreak company blu-ray which is Region A and confirmed to be geo-locked title. it turn up today so I pop it into my player after I setting it to Region A, it played just fine I didn't get no geo-locked warning. I have a Samsung k8500 UHD player it was icos chip when I bought it off amazon from mrmdvd. I have look and you can change the country code on Samsung tv & player via the remote.

Hmmm .... I have a chipped M7500 Samsung player as well as the Panasonic ones ... whilst I can change region I don't see any way to change the country code (the instructions I've seen online look like they require a remote with buttons mine does not have)

If you have a logitech universal remote you may be able to set it up to work as one of the models that do have the extra buttons.

This is one of the things where modern mobile phones are actually lacking a useful feature that used to be fairly common - IIRC a number of early smart phones and devices had IR ports, which could with the right app work as remote controls, including doing things like running macros that made resetting DVD player regions easy, even those that required a specific code to be entered within a specific timescale.
