Apple Event - 30th October - 2pm - "There's more in the making"

I have to say, iPad pro looks pretty nice. Do want but don't need, not at all.

The new pencil is very clever (charging) but I don't have any need for one.

The old pencil's charging was stupid, dangling out the bottom of the iPad ready to break, I'm surprised Apple designed it that way, not a very slick look.

I got the Mini from Apple @ £399 refurbished. See the wheel a lot. It didn't turn out to be what I expected. No 23.976fps in Mac OS, it seems. I didn't know at the time. Not sure whether Mojave is? Touchpad is ace though when browsing.

iPad Pro looks amazing. Got the 128GB Mini. Lags a lot. My iPhone 8 Plus runs very well.

So tempted to sell my 15” MacBook Pro and get a mini and iPad Pro.

Never used an iPad for work though.

Yeah I am seriously considering returning the MBP too - and picking up a cheap base model Mini - I have a decent 'gaming' system on Windows which I mostly use for work / code / infrastructure.

I have the original ipad pro 12.9 128gb i was gonna upgrade but seeing the price increase whats the point. The redesign makes no difference and the spec increase what difference dfoes that make either. My pro runs apps split screen fine or have they actually created good software to make use of the power now?

The only thing I use that pushes my 10.5 is editing 4K video and it makes that look easy tbh. Lightroom is super smooth, be interesting to have a fully fledged Photoshop.

CPU looks pretty underwhelming on the Air, otherwise I may have entertained the idea of one. Lightroom would grind to a halt.

Agreed, no i7 for starters. It’ll be interesting to see where they sit power wise compared to the Pro, which is also dual core.

They must be making massive profit from the new mac mini's, those price are insane if you consider it's just the guts out of the rMBP without all the actual laptop parts like screen, keyboard, t2 chip etc. Compare it to the intel nuc 8 with dedicated gpu and half the price  apple tax is so real this year

Mac mini contains the T2.

Architecturally there's very little difference between 6th/7th/8th/9th gen, they're all based off Skylake. Apple don't use the latest Intel chips as a major selling point worth iterating the model range for - the old Mac mini got left for nearly 4 years, the unibody 13" MBP ran for 4+ years with Ivy Bridge as an entry level offering.

If they're updating anyway then sure go for the latest, but they won't launch a new model just because Intel added cores and jumped a generation number on the marketing to distract the investors from their 10nm process woes.

I can see the new iPad Pro being annoying to use having to lift up to line up with your face all the time. It’s not so bad with iPhone as it’s small and fits in hand. I tend to have my iPad on arm of chair and just unlock with finger to check email etc. Having to lift it up all the time for face I’d will be annoying tbh.....

Will stick with my 10.5 for now which tbh does far more than I will ever need. Quite liking the Mac air though.....
