Battlefield V performance

My PC (2500k/970) struggles pretty bad even with geforce experience optimal settings! :(

Mostly medium on 1440p, sometimes goes down to like 20fps, it's a nightmare. Gonna have to go to low I think.

Most likely the 0.5 of slower vram is kicking in on your 970. Maybe try going 1080p instead?

Definitely drop the resolution if you have a 970. When I had mine I was at 1080p.

Yea I'll give 1080 a go tomorrow and hope it doesn't get the big fps drops. I'm trying to build a rainy day fund back up after house purchase and this is making it all the more challenging!

My 970 is just ok at 1080, not as smooth as I would like and sadly showing its age. Usually play at 1080 @ 120fps but that isn't going to happen on a 970 sadly. My 6700k+970 is around 85fps but just not the smoothest experience and definitely dropping frames.

running 4k max everything 8770k at 5.0 and the 2080ti at stock 1560. used dx 11 and got 60% gpu usaged and 40 ish fps. tried dx 12 got 90% gpu usage and 55-60 fps! its a 1st time dx 12 has ever improved a game for me ^^

A friend and I installed his copy on my system last night for testing (RTX2080, 1700X, 32GB 2666MHz).

Yes it's true that turning on DXR tanks the frame-rate, and yes it is true it falls below what many would consider okay for a fast paced FPS game. However it is also true that the FPS can be brought back to acceptable levels by lowering settings that are not DXR, and the game still looks better than it does with everything on max and no DXR.

I felt this was worth mentioning as most people (including reviewers) seem to be tunneling on the max settings + DXR on/off factor without exploring that extremely relevant avenue.

It only looks "better" if you go around looking for reflections that you otherwise would never notice. Besides that the game really looks no different.

Not missing any point, the effects are subtle and are easily missed in an fps game. Yes you can get your fps up by messing with other settings but is it really worth it for a few reflections?

Surely it is. Getting shot at while you are looking in a mirror doing your hair while admiring the beautiful character model. K/D 0f 0-50 :D:D:D:D:D

You should go into the AMD has better picture output Thread. They are debating the difference between a few pixels ;)

So I was using a Ryzen 3 1200 @ 3.9ghz and 1080 Ti and was really struggling with frame rates at 1440p Ultrawide, was getting about 40 - 55 FPS in Ultra and thought it was odd, especially as the CPU only seemed to be capping out at 80 - 90% usage.

Anyway, skip forward to today where I’ve received my Predator x34P and a Ryzen 5 2600, set it to 3.9Ghz again (all done with 3200 mem) and testing again with Gsync on with Ultra and I’m now getting about 90 - 120 FPS!!!! It’s crazy fluid now. This is in DX12 too.

I think the game might be CPU bound but doesn’t show it in the CPU utilisation, it must love multithreading to such a degree that the Ryzen 1200 really held it back.

Either way, this rig is now insanely good, I’ve only played about 30 mins with it but the extra frame rate really helps make it easier and more enjoyable to play.

I’ll have a play and see if I can get any extra speed out of the Ryzen and if that makes a difference to frame rates...

I have seen benchmarks that show it scales up to 8 cores (And probably beyond). (The tests where up to a 1700 Ryzen) And the more cores the game has the higher the fps.

Doesn't mean it's smooth tho. I have a 2700x and a 1080. And sometimes the game is smooth. Other times I get massive hitches and stutter. DX12 currently, but DX11 has it's own issues.

Yes, because once you do it the game looks better than it did before and runs just as well. That was the point hence me highlighting that you had missed it.

Ive just upgraded my i5-2500k to a Ryzen 5 2600 and its sorted out all my fps drops, even with my gpu running at 60% load I was still getting crippling drops down to 15-20 fps. New CPU, board and ram and its stable at 120 fps in low with everything stock.

The age old myth spread around tech forums across the world, that for gaming the cpu isn’t as important as GPU, is well and truly bust when it comes to Frostbite Multiplayer games..

Battlefield 1 and Battlefield V absolutely perform far better on modern fast multi-core CPU’s. My Haswell 4770k whilst a fantastic cpu saw 100% usage on both games and really struggled to keep a steady minimum frame rate.. moving to 9900k the experience is radically smoother no matter how intense the action gets!

To think I nearly spent that money on a 2080ti.. I think that would have been a disaster since I only play Battlefield games which seem far more cpu bound. I have well over a thousand hours in BF1, and time and time again I experienced scenarios where the 4770k was over taxed.

Well generally speaking GPUs are more relevant to performance but I agree when people claim the CPU should be an afterthought, that is a too extreme way of thinking.

on my setup guys im averaging around 80-100 fps on 1440p at ultra settings..the issue i have is now and again it drops to like 60-70 fps when busy and it stutters for the shortest of times..

can someone advise how i go about ironing out those issues? oh, and thats on conquest 64 man server im getting these results from.

my setup :

Ryzen 1800X
Vega 56 (powercolor)
16gb ddr4
hannspree 32" 2k 144hz monitor.
