Battlefield V performance

See I'm miffed with the Geforce Experience.

I used t on BFV and it seems to optimise the settings to what I thought looked reasonable.

However with Far Cry 5 it wanted to set most things to low.... When I set everything to Ultra I get a minimum of around 60 and highs of 80 so it's not very consistent.

When it comes to BF my 1080 is perfectly smooth maxed out at 1440p during the most intense of times. But then stutters when I make a quick side movement sometimes when there isn't much going on.

It might be the motion blur that needs to be turned off... but I hate turning things off in the settings unless it's AA.

DX12 / DX11 same performance. Both a bit hitchy if I'm honest.
With FC5 and the 2080 the recommended settings made the game too slow. Probably initially GFE just not optimised for the game. They must release updated GFE profiles often as there's been no new driver update yet but suddenly the Optimal settings it recommends for the 2080 in BFV is only a few notches away from max quality where as last week it was much further towards Performance.
Note that you can use the slider to move towards quality or performance. I assume in FC 5 for you it's determined the optimal settings should be closer to max Performance but you can use the slider to move the settings towards Quality and it will then change the settings accordingly (apologies if you know this already :) ). You can then apply the settings based on where you set the slider so there are quite a few performance/quality profiles you can select from and the profile will then be the one optimal for you (so will show the game as optimised even if you didn't select the default Optimal suggested profile)

So I've been messing around with the graphics options.

Eventually set it all back to default and set graphics quality to ultra. I also turned on DX12.

For the most part it's smooth. But you do occasionally get this annoying major hitch. Maybe 1 every 1.30hrs.

I hope moving forward DICE can improve DX12 and performance in general.

I get the odd major hitch on DX11 too.

Look like DICE had released new Battlefield V patch fixed DX12 performance, someone reported DX12 now run faster than DX11.

Someone need to test DXR, it should see huge performance boost too.
Cannot be 100% sure but it does seem to have had a small impact. Maybe 2-4 FPS on a 2080. I was definitely getting an average of < 60fps during the 10 hour trial but am getting a few more now, just over 60. Not a scientific test though and I use GFE which seems to have an updated profile but having a quick look at the settings they look the same to me. DXR definitely set to the same value as before and mostly everything else on high.
Funny thing is I cannot remember a patch being downloaded, other than I think something GUI related when I bought the full version.

This was released in the last patch when the game launched a few weeks ago I believe. It's nothing new if I am not mistaken.

Correct but hopefully with the nvidia dollar paying to make the 20x0 cards look as good as possible I’d have thought Nvidia users have some more optimisations to look forward to.

Tried DX12 yesterday since the patch and it seems better but I’m still getting less FPS @4k than I was with DX11 (Zotac 1080ti Amp Extreme)

Back to DX11 and all is smooth if anything I’m getting slightly higher FPS (65+ instead of a fairly constant 60) since the patch.

Runs much better for me than BF4 and 1 both of which are high 50’s at best, always have been.

It's normal in a game that supports both DX11 and DX12 for Nvidia cards to run better in DX11 mode, hence why many default to DX11 for Nvidia (I.E WoW). If you don't specifically want a DX12 feature (I.E DXR) then you can just stick with DX11 and won't miss anything.

Good to know, cheers. :)

Oddly enough, my 1070 does better in DX12 than DX11.
Funny you should say that, i was just about to post the same thing i can play all on ultra except post processing i put that to medium and get 70 to over 100 fps on DX12 thats with that future frame rendering thing turned off too, put it on DX11 and it runs choppy.
Thats with a 1070 and a i7 8700k @ 4.8. at 1440p with the latest windows 10 1809.
