*** Nintendo Switch ***

Folks, is it my imagination or was is there a feature or mode in SSBU where it would display the input that you just made and describe the input in question? I thought I saw this in training mode but for the life of me I cant find it but couldve swore I have seen this before?

I've never seen that. I'm not sure it's necessary as there are no complicated moves, just chaining simple ones such as dash, pivot, short hop, fast fall, b-air.

The closest I've seen is the combo counter which didn't work anyway as it counts non - true combos and ignores some true ones.

I must have been hallucinating it then....

Blimey I could have sworn I saw something like that....

Just starting to get into this... believe it or not this is my first Smash game that I have purchased and play on a Ninty system.

Any guides/tutorials anyone would recommend?

If you leave it on the start screen long enough it starts showing you something like you describe. Maybe it was that :)

Yea not going to lie the first few hours are rather tedious as there is a lot to learn about the game and combat so they break it up and only teach you things at certain points but once that's over damn the game is amazing and the combat becomes so much more and a heck of a lot of fun!

I skipped it at the time as was playing Zelda and it all looked a bit clunky in comparison. Might pick it up cheap while the weather is rubbish

Big smash tournament currently on for those who want to see high level play:

They make me feel inferior :(
Everyone makes me feel like that :D

Tbh I just unlocked young link and I remember really enjoying him on previous games. Had a few more online matches and didn't do too badly. Just need to focus more and not fumble in the heat of a given moment.

What's the main differences between the Links? I noticed normal link now uses the BotW remote bombs

Young Link is one of the best characters in the game (top 5?), the others aren't :p

They are all quite different in speed and power, and all the projectiles and moves vary a lot. For example some have hookshot throws while others have normal ones, some bombs are on timers and some are remote, some down airs spike and some bounce off shields etc.

Do you fancy a game online?

Top 5 aye? I clearly have a taste for quality then! I guess that means he's used quite a lot, maybe a downside.

Will be up for a game soon for sure, just messing around at the moment ;) what's your code? I will add you for future fighting!

Others too, happy to add for Smash and other titles. I'll grab my code and post it in here too

If this tournament is anything to go by then there is a huge variety in the characters in the top 16.

My code is: 3888-7563-6292

If anyone else tries to add me please let me know as I don't accept random friend requests.

Thanks Kree will add you later and have a match soon. I did so poorly last night :( my GSP with Young link has gone right down hill :D

I assume they matchmake you based on the GSP score?

I just had a huge loss streak but then started to win a fair few towards the end. Mixture of laggy matches and me being fairly new.. no excuses :D

Yeah they use GSP for matchmaking. I dropped from 2.4 million to 1.6 million 2 days ago!

Everyone suddenly got good since I broke into Elite. Needless to say I am not in elite anymore :p

It drops a lot quicker than it rises doesn't it! :D elite aye? That's an option once you reach a certain point right?

It depends on if you lose to players with lower GSP. The problem is you have a different rating per character to a 2.5 million GSP Marth player could start playing with a 1 million GSP Chrom and wreck me, making me lose 300k points.

Elite mode is where all the killers are, and generally you only ever get proper match settings there. It's like the "For Glory" mode in older Smash games while regular online in this is like the "For Fun" mode.

Only the top 5% ish of players get to play Elite, so you can find yourself kicked out of it despite not losing any GSP as the point requirements keep rising. Currently it's about 2.4 million GSP.

Sounds like there's more to it than just losing and going down then, the people I was playing were definitely above me :D but I had some really fun fair fights too that were really close making me feel well matched for a bit.

There is a glitch where if you keep re-matching (whether the other player accepts or not) then you play people at the GSP you had at the start of the session regardless of whether you win or lose. This can apparently be abused to boost your GSP but it can also mean you keep playing against 2.4 million GSP players even if you have lost 1 million points, as I found out recently.

Fancy a game?
