Man attempts to burn 51 school children alive

Funny that in 2019 when you can read about any country in the world via this new-fangled global network I keep hearing about, that only first-hand experiences are valid when drawing conclusions.

Yes, because that source of information has worked so well for narrow minded people in the past few years, and not at all corruptible.

So we should only trust news sources that say immigration is great; immigrants are all good people; nothing bad ever happens.

Gotcha.

Because we're too narrow minded to be able to handle the truth. Gotcha.

Durn racists need to be fed the correct narrative to stop them revolting, eh?

e: Anyway, I made a statement, and a pretty uncontroversial one at that.

FGM is a good example.

https://www.who.int/reproductivehealth/topics/fgm/prevalence/en/

Take a look at the absurd prevelence of FGM in African countries - with FGM rates amongst females of up to 91%!!

e2: Sierra Leone - one of the countries you lives in - has an FGM percentage of 88% :( Tell us again how the cultural practices in Sierra Leone are beyond reproach?

I'm sorry, are you saying that the internet only provides one perspective on events? Or are you saying that we should only trust those that agree with your point of view?

And how does that relate to skin colour - why did you need to raise that?

You are the one saying only first-hand evidence is admissible, and that the internet is untrustworthy when drawing conclusions. I'm quite happy to use the balance of evidence available on the 'net to draw conclusions.

I'm going to go back to my original statement - African culture includes some really abhorrent practices incompatible with western values. I'm not interested in having a back-and-forth with you over nonsense bullet points.

The one that sickens me most is the witchcraft accusations against children. Do you remember Adam, whose torso was found in the Thames a few years back?

Not at all. I'm saying that my experience has more depth than yours, because I've lived there and you've, by your own admission, read/watched the news., used Google, and listened to other's stories. On the latter point it is odd, because you're listening to one now.

Yes, it does. They're very different to Western Europe. I've lived with them and experienced them for years. But based on the points you've raised, and how you've brought immigration into the debate and stated without prompting that this isn't about skin colour when there was not reason to raise it, I've drawn my own conclusions, whether you have interest or not and whether or not you think you're racist.

@The_Abyss That's great, and somewhat expected, tbh.

You've agreed with me/the internet, whilst also letting us all know that your opinions are more valid, and calling me a racist at the same time.

I have to say, brilliant.

I particularly like the fact that it's not what I say, it's when I choose to say it, that makes me a racist ;) Facts at the wrong time are racism, y'all.

One story I heard last year was concerning a conversation between somebody I know and an African-born and raised doctor.

He (the doctor) practised western medicine in the UK and was evidently a clever/well-educated chap.

At the weekend he took part in voodoo ceremonies and witchcraft. The apparently contradiction in this was put to him. He replied that voodoo was part of his culture; part of his tradition.

Not at all. You said that you relied upon:

Reading/watching the news.

Using Google.

Listening to other's stories.

to inform you that that many of these African countries have cultural practices that are absolutely abhorrent and do not fit with western society.

In response, I stated that I'd lived in a number of these African countries, and that my first hand experiences were different to how you described them. Yes, some are very different - you then edited your post to include FGM. I don't recall at all any practices of burning alive school children.

You then dropped
And that statement has nothing to do with skin colour.
into the debate.

Why are you raising skin colour? Why is this relevant?

Pointless, as you've already edited your posts to suggest that we're too narrow minded to handle the truth, something about Durn racists and their narrative, sarcastically saying that all immigrants are great, good people and nothing bad ever happens (which is so incredibly inappropriate.

When you stated that we're too narrow minded to handle the truth, I think you were closer to home than you'll ever be capable of realising.

Erm... where do I start with this? Are you being intentionally stupid for effect?

You do realise that I was parodying/responding to what you were saying, right?

It's you that says we can't be trusted to read and comprehend information freely available on the news and on the internet.

It's you that said narrow-minded. I repeated it in a mocking tone. I never called you narrow minded nor anyone else.

In response to you I said (paraphrasing), "Oh sure, we're all narrow minded racists herp derp."

OK now because I'm sure you're doing this deliberately (pretending to not understand/mixing up who said what) I'm out.

You havent saved enough of my kind so im kidnapping your kids and going to set them on fire...now go save more of my kind.

i dont think he really thought this through.

Well apparently according to one of the victims, he might have said a few of his kids had died. How accurate this is, who knows.

It’s not justification (nothing would be) if it’s true mind you, but it’s a motive that isnt totally insane. And not thinking it through lends a bit of credence to spur of the moment anguish.

Though it doesn’t make a lot of sense, if he was a citizen, I’m sure there’d be a legal way to move his children without subjecting them to such risk.

/could all be total nonsense, pretty sure I read it from the telegraph or some on other trash rag.

Luckly one of children hid his phone when the bus driver was confiscating them, he managed to call his father speaking in abraic while pretending to pray who then alreted the police.

Do they ever?

All these actions do is tend to harden the resolve against whatever cause it's proclaiming. Just look at the ****** in NZ.

I'm fairly sure it's totally insane regardless of his "motive".

Killing 51 innocent kids by burning them alive is never going to anything other than "totally insane" in most people's books.
