More I think about the episode more impressed I am. I think it'll certainly be divisive in terms of how it finished but the spectacle of it will start to grow on people. Especially on repeat viewings (where you can actually see what is going on) and knowing what's coming rather than worrying about your fav character.

Eight years ago I never thought I'd see something like that on TV.

Band of Brothers still tops it imo :D

anybody work out how Arya got the sword back from Sansa?

Was it the same dagger? As she was using a different dagger when escaping the main hall and escaping with the Hound. I just assumed it was this dagger but if it was the same one she gave Sansa then hmmmmmm.

She didn't, the entire episode was a Bran vision sequence from the moment his eyes turned white...the real battle is in the later episodes :D #MindBlown!

Welcome to Game of Dallas! It was all a dream.

Completely agree with everyone though. The NK's demise was poorly handled for a mythical figure that had been spoken about for generations. Not even excited for the upcoming episodes as a result.

I dunno, I mean Arya has been training for years, she’s now some badass assassin. That Valyrian Steele dagger has been fairly significant through the show, she did serve the god of death... all that assassin training has finally had some greater purpose than some revenge kills of a few bad people.

As for the NK not being a formidable enemy as someone alluded to earlier, they were almost completely ****ed here. He’d just done his whole raising the dead thing, there was an ice dragon no one was really able to deal with. Etc...

Arya killing the night king was a complete long shot, it was both the skills she’d built up over time in the show and that brief pause/surprise from the night king before she does the little dagger trick we saw previously when she was sparing with Brienne.

It didn’t come out of no where though, certainly not a deus ex machina. The red woman kind of gave it away anyway in the episode anyway with her comment re: blue eyes.

I have zero issues with Arya dispatching NK.

She has really grown as a character and has some of the most in-depth background story telling when she served the God of Many Faces.

I liked it too, I think in the books her training is drawn out a lot more and you can understand why she is so good. The show if seemed to be done in weeks/months and they didn't really impart how much she out in (or it took from her)

I'm sure it isn't the same dagger, I was thinking about that myself but as @kindai has said above, it's a dragonglass one she gives Sansa. I'm pretty sure when you see Sansa in the crypt it's not the Valerian steel one as well.

You know the more I think about the more I'm glad the Night King is done with. We'll find out what Bran was doing all that time when he was "flying" about during the battle I'm sure...but really I'm looking forward to the big battle with Cersei. I think it will be fantastic and no doubt there will be a few twists.
