AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) - *** NO COMPETITOR HINTING ***

Biggest disappointment is the price points but then AMD's SRPs tend to go out the window after a couple of months so anyone patient will likely get better prices. R7 2700X replacement is +200 MHz, +15% IPC, and now only 65 W TDP. R7 3800X is probably only appealing to those wanting to squeeze as much clock speed out of Zen 2 as possible. R9 3900X being $499 is a kick in the balls, I was expecting $399 or $429 at most. I guess AMD are very confident they have caught up in raw gaming performance and are pricing accordingly.

Clocks are also about where I expected but lower than the 5 GHz dreams floating around the interwebs. If the base 12 core part hits 4.6 GHz, there may well be another 12c part or a 16c part later that hits higher clocks than that. However, 4.6 GHz single core boost may mean all core clocks only hit 4.4-4.5 GHz. Bit disappointing by itself but combined with the IPC increase it should be really nice.

The fact that they explicitly talked about games where AMD has struggled before (mainly older or e-sports titles) shows they are confident in the single threaded performance gains they've made.

My prediction of them holding back the 16 core part may well come to fruition too. :D

8 core from what i've been told , as you mention inter die as well as running the risk of one IMC being weaker then the other

right, changed mind from Aorus Pro to eithe elite or Ultra/Master now haha. not liking the looks
Yeah I suspect so...even Lisa mentioned that 3800x is the one gamers want...lol

Hahahahaha.

So much for the people saying AMD would massively undercut Intel. From Lisa Su's own mouth:

"We believe the price point for an entry-level 8-core device should be $329."

Entry-level. 8-core. £300.

So all you (ridiculously optimistic) guys shouting about AMD CPUs being 50% cheaper than Intel.

I'm liking the look of that, and maybe EK will do a block to replace the fan?

Do you know if it has dual M.2 slots?

on the back, like the Z390 AORUS ITX

Heads up, its 8+1 phase design i believe

Good thing 3200Mhz is supported by motherboards easily now, should really help with b-die going away. Although if people want to pick something up now, here's the B-Die finder.

if i recall, new ram speed records arent set by samsung anymore ! :D

So it looks like the majority of leaks were simply BS, surprise surprise.

So far we've only been offered two 8 cores and one 12 core with the 12 core having a boost of 4.6 ghz
And the 12 core will be £500+. LOLs.

Can't wait for the AMD defence force to now tell us how these prices are great.

PS5 is going to clean up. PC is just getting more expensive.

Thanks, AMD, Intel, nV.

16 core is coming later

i did mention start of the year, 10 core intel was due for q4 (wasnt sure if new platform which its now confirmed)

need something to combat it and steal lime light

Is there a good round up of currently known about X570 motherbpards anywhere? I was seriously considering MSI this time around but then remembered their BIOS updates are always in some proprietary packed EXE format, which means no injecting microcode updates down the line. With the current frequency of vulnerabilities that's a big minus for me.

Yes, maybe after Cooper Lake, maybe not until Zen 3 depending on the market.

What can you buy from Intel at $500? Oh, an 8 core 16 thread

updated X570 aorus thread on mobo section with what i know and the VRMs etc/ pics . will see about updating the others .

shouldn't take to long, but takes time due to no naked PCB shots - im just lucky at knowing details others dont

As a gamer and coming from a 3770k I'm looking at the 3700X vs 3800X, I think it depends about how well they perform in benchmarks and very curious to see how well they overclock. I think the 3700X will be adequate for my needs.

Yeah and I/we had to put up with certain vocal AMD posters telling us how AMD would undercut Intel and make everything much cheaper.

Well they didn't.

They matched Intel's prices at the mid-range. A £300 8-core mainstream AMD chip is the same price as an Intel 8-core mainstream chip. No cheaper at all.

Well, being that AMD's 3800X is expected to be better than the 9900K for less money they kind of are doing just that. Just because they have a better product for higher cost doesn't mean they haven't made performance cheaper.

8 core 16 thread for $329 from AMD or
8 core 16 thread for $500 from Intel

I think that's a result, do you begrudge AMD making some money on their products?
