Not to put to fine a point on it or that anyone cares but I had a Colonoscopy this morning with no sedation or pain medication. Was all clear, but that was horrendous. So I am VERY feeling in the mindset of treating myself to Zen2.

Yeah I saw it. It was horrendous man. Worst pain I've ever experienced. Alas, the Dr said I have quite bad IBS, so a very sensitive bowel. Anyway - Zen2!

I doubt the 3800X will give any better results than the 3700X. At the latter's price point, it could be the cpu to replace my R5 1600. Maybe the R5 3600 might do, too.

I'm waiting for reviews but have already bought memory and an SSD. One way or another, in the next few weeks my aging 2600k will be sent away to live on a farm.

That seems the obvious culprit. These are 7nm chips so the thermal density may well be higher even though the TDP is still reasonable.
