AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) - *** NO COMPETITOR HINTING ***

So, looks like I will hold off for a week or two but I am seeing the 9900k and 3900x at the same price online. Not sure which one to get now.

You aint going to notice any difference in gaming so why would you opt for 16 threads v 24 for the same price, 3900 uses less power as well.

Think I'll be waiting until around September or October .. we should see much better availability, some higher clocks, and all the new blocks tailored to the asymmetric layout should be around by then.

STRONGLY considering ordering that Taichi for £100 less, the price is too good. If they don't honour it, can't you just cancel? I said before I would not order another Asrock board after my original experience with the x370 Taichi, but at that price? Worth a punt lol.

Still to early for me to decide on a CPU, too many questions to be answered. Concerned about the bios situation when it comes to how these tests are being run, and I expect many improvements over the next months that will help the new chips out.

As expected though, 9900k was going to be faster as it stands. It will be quite fascinating to see how it all pans out in the near future though.

I can sell my 7940x, buy a 3900x and mobo from the money i get from it... no to mention probably get better performance. Then sell the 3900x and get 3950x on release..

For gaming you might as well consider it even. AMD have the more powerful CPU and better platform. For me Intel need to offer more value to equal AMD and not suffer anymore security vulnerabilities.

Still on the fence with the overclocking, seems to be some sort of limitation with the power limits at the moment.
I wont pull the trigger until i see some more in depth testing, especially on the 3800x which could be the real gaming chip.

Jumped on the Taichi bandwagon. Over £100 less than I expected to pay - means I can maybe go 3900x over 3800x :D despite only needing it for gaming .... can't help myself!

I game and work 50/50 so it's kinda of a no brainer. Not like im missing out on FPS and the x299 platform wasn't the best for gaming anyway.

I struggling to justify, Cities skylines, destiny 2, forza horizon 4, farcry 5. 4k and 1440p, with a 1080ti it all works ok cities is a lag fest but no real guarantee this 8 core 3700 will help frames over the 1600. Even cyberpunk in the future, might have to wait until then

Yes, however i suspect the 3800x will come out the better chip going by how close the 3700x is to the 9900k and then factoring in the additional benefits of zen2 and the platform.
Of course these MB costs... not good.
Yeah except all the reviews compare both CPUs at stock in games and we already know that Zen 2 has 0 benefits when overclocked. The difference will be higher when 9900K is overclocked.

So I ordered the x570 Taichi from a competitor and the 3800X from the rainforest as i had a £50 voucher spare for there from work so all told this has cost me £570, not bad considering a lot of x570 motherboards alone cost more than that haha, and that's not too much more money than a 9900k

Will benchmark my rig thus week, then put in the 3800x and bench again then swap it all to the x570 and bench once more.

Should be interesting to see the improvement
