*** Nintendo Switch ***

Well I wish there were some more solid rumours, I'm looking to buy one in Feb but don't know whether to hold of until March which is what most of the trashy 'tech' news feeds seem to be stating as a likely release. Or would we have heard something from Nintendo if it was to be released so soon?

It looks like production is going to start Q1 so you should be looking at, maybe E3 time for launch in June or just prior to it.

"Nintendo launched Switch Lite with friendlier pricing in late September and significant increases in its overall Swtich console sales in the three-month period ended September 30, 2019. Now the Japanese vendor is reportedly planning to launch a new Switch model in mid-2020, with volume production for the new device beginning in first-quarter of this year. "

I have mine hooked up to a 4K set and I think it looks really good.

Same here. Certain styles of graphics looks a bit pants but thats because the resolution is low and the textures are crap. Things like Mario Kart and other games with the right art style look absolutely stunning on my 4K TV.

Enjoying BOTW and it's making me want to play Witcher 3 again but it's a shame the game doesn't support cross platform saves with the PC as I'd probably buy it on the Switch.

I'm a massive Zelda fan and loved BOTW - Never played a Witcher game, do you think it would be enjoyable for me. I have never been a fan of the Elder Scrolls series

Witcher games play completely different to Elder Scrolls, its more action based gameplay in comparison. If you like BOTW then id recommend Witcher 3 but if you have PC then perhaps give 2 a go aswell and if you don't mind old games then perhaps try 1 aswell.

The only thing I've seen is that production is rumoured to start at the end of March, with a release at least 3 months later.

I don't think that it will happen this year though.

What SOC is available for a pro to use?? Nothing around at the moment that gives a proper boost really so can’t see it happening.

Why does there have to be any? They could have easily been developing a custom chip with Nvidia since the Switch launched. They have the volume to warrant it, and the money to do it, so there is nothing stopping them and it would to be both the benefit of Nintendo and Nvidia to have a custom part made.

Decided to replace my own analogue stick rather than waiting for nintendo to get back to me to probably ultimately deem theres nothing wrong with it.

Possible but unlikely in my opinion, will be something existing rebadged.

Didn't the PS3 have a custom CPU which ended up being overly expensive and difficult to develop with, can't see Nintendo doing that.

I'm not convinced a pro switch is coming this year, and if it did I'd expect a new 3DS type iteration rather than a massive performance upgrade. Shame as iI' definitely buy one.

I've been thinking about Ring Fit Adventure for a while and finally pulled the trigger on it last night. I've never played a fitness game before and I don't know how it'll play out but I'm looking forward to giving it a go.

I think you misinterpreted what was meant by custom. What Sony did is very different from what was being suggested.

The Tegra part is ‘off the shelf’ e.g. pretty much anyone can buy it. What was being suggested is that Nvidia make a more powerful Arm CPU and GPU paring specifically for the switch which would be a drop in replacement. It would still run the same architecture and instruction set, just much faster.

Basically exactly the same as what MS/AMD are doing with the Xbox one and series X or how to pc upgrades happen.

^^ This post.

I'm not sure why it would be news worth reporting if it was a tiny upgrade, you have a console that is now 3 years old (3rd March) and sold 41.67 million units and still has strong demand in the market place. They've addressed the portable player base with the Lite, but not addressed the demand from people who would like something more premium and would more than likely be happy to pay for that as well. You are approaching the mid-life of the console at the 3-4 year old point and leveraging the demand, and also the support you have in place from developers is paramount before you hit the saturation point.

I hope what ever it is it's worth waiting for as I was hoping to get a Switch anytime now.

I'd say you are looking at April at the very earliest, but more like June in the European market.

Just buy one now if you want one, it's not like they are expensive and it won't suddenly be worthless if a new model is released.
