Project Man Cave / Games Room.

[QUOTE="Vince, post: 33184706, member: 16518"It is indeed 80 deep. Honestly it's made working from home or generally working at the desk so much better. love it! Some more updates to come, I have a new table, storage is coming at the weekend and also I have some chairs and other stuff on the way. Should look good :)

Hi Vince,

How are you finding the desk still? Is it good quality and sturdy?

I was thinking of getting this one

https://www.chairoffice.co.uk/kestr...el-desk/95ece6fa-acfe-4768-a70b-f8c833ca23ef/

it seems like the same measurements and thickness as yours but a lot cheaper. It isn’t as nice looking as yours but similar.

It's been great, no issues at all, size wise it is spot on, quality wise I can't fault it, I did take it apart as well as I wanted to make a few changes in there and no issues wacking it back together. In fact I think I will be buying another one the same for the other end of the office as I need a space for the wife to work when she is working from home, we were both working from home wednesday and she was doing my head in, she needs her own working space rather than trying to invade mine. Im thinking of replicating my setup but with a more feminine pink/red style lighting build down the other end of the office, probably in the same case and the same peripherals :) Plus when a buddy comes over I won't have to bust out a laptop for some gaming.

My wife won't game with me, I have tried but she just isn't interested which is a shame as I can easily build something from spare parts that will make a cracking gaming machine. I have a spare Threadripper board, spare threadripper, spare platinum power supply, plenty of spare SSD's. The monitor I got just a month or so back has a dead pixel that is only dead after its been on for an hour so that just will not do for me @NikTheSHNIK done me a cracking deal on it but there was a reason that bad boy was hanging about, the mrs won't even notice it so she is going to have that 34" curved screen and i'm going to buy the next model up or if @NikTheSHNIK can recommend me a 34" that is similar or in the same chassis as that samsung I would appreciate that.

Also on the look out for a ducky year of the pig or year of the goat. But yea i'm just mumbling along now, the desk though, comes recommended. Expensive for what it is but I really do love my desk.

Sounds great. Looking at the specs I think both desks are made out of same materials and thickness. Even wood colour looks similar.... only difference I think is the metal design feature.... I like yours more but can’t justify an extra £175..... Am I right or did I miss some thing?

Let me have a look, my one is the longest that they did in that build so 1800 and 80 deep, so yea looks the same in that respect there is some talk on mine of melamine but other than that they look quite similar. Mine does not have the holes but can have the holes if you want and the vanity area looks a bit different. I think that looks nice though, the colour of mine is Royal Brown Oak but still I really like the look of that for the money. I think all in mine was about 400 odd quid so for the money that looks cracking and if its built as well as mine I think you will be happy.

Thought I would update you all a bit on progress of how this looks now as I did a little more to the room in the last few days. I am getting it ready for a second desk, the same as my one but not 2 meters long. The chairs 2x should get here tomorrow (ive had nightmares with chairs) so please god let them come. The desk should be here either tomorrow or early next week. I'm half way through building a radiator cover and a chest to sit next to the new desk and hold the pc and a nice plant, the sofa is going. So much to do over the next few days but hopefully it will be done shortly as I need a proper work space for the wife. Hopefully by the end of next week that monitor, pc (my other project at the moment) and some other bits I have bought her will all be assembled and the office will be almost finished.

I haven't bothered cleaning up or putting anything away, this is how it looks right now with all the mess and things that shouldn't be in this room.

And yes I do keep changing monitor but so far this one is ok, also changed to a model o mouse. So many projects on at the moment so my shelves are full up with stuff.

Well project man cave ended up turning into project office, this is our office as it looks now!

Quite a few changes including another machine, matching (smaller) desk. Still work to do such as the lighting and some more painting down the Mrs side of the room but it's getting there!! It's come a long way from the grim pink and white dirty space! In fact this isn't quite as it looks now, i have changed from h.323 to sip for my phone so have a new handset, it's still a corporate set but is a bit nicer than the avaya 1608i.
