I live 100m from a big Co-Op store. I shop every day in there. I doubt we'd last a week with what's in our cupboards. Maybe I'll rely on eating cat killed Wood Pigeon. I get a couple of those a week sometimes.

GF is veggie though, so perhaps it's time to test the theory that she wouldn't be if she was hungry enough.

I wonder what else to get beyond food as well. I quite often stock up on various things anyway, but I can definitely see some important things that would be annoying to go and get.

Assuming no interruption to water/power;
  • Shower Gel/Shampoo
  • Toothpaste
  • Ibuprofen/Paracetamol
  • Cold medicine (lemsip etc)
  • Multi-vitamin tablets
  • Toilet Roll
  • Normal kitchen roll
  • Dishwasher tabs
  • Laundry powder/detergent
  • Cleaning sponges
  • Bin Bags
  • Bottled Water (no idea how much would be sensible).
Most of this stuff is useful anyway, what am I missing? :)

Are we really at the prepper stash stage?

No, its the I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it stage.

My Mrs wont listen though, we would be completely screwed if went into lock down where I live she only shops for a week and sometimes even a few days at a time and refuses to believe that we need to do anything more

I stashed 4TB of porn in case the internet dies.

That's nowhere near enough.

I think what I have in the house right now could sustain me for a few weeks at least, though it would hardly be fine dining. I have a lot of tinned soup, some tinned veg, tinned spag bol, ravioli, tinned curry, stuff like that. And I have at least a week or two worth of frozen stuff, chips, frozen fish, decent quality pasta meals from Iceland. And around 4 or 5 24 packs of fizzy drinks.

I'll probably try to stock up on a bit more stuff, but nothing major. I have noticed that stuff like hand sanitiser seems to be hard to get right now. Probably a lot of panic buying going on.

If you have a freezer that's going to be a bonus, assuming the power doesn't go.

We have a chest freezer in the garage and between that and what we could store in tins and non-perishable, dried pasta etc, within reason, given the water supply through your taps and power are not cut, could live for a loooooong time.

Don't forget you can get tinned fruit to top up the vitamins as well as tinned veg which mostly rank.

Thing is, how much do you spend?

I could easily store at least £500 worth of food, probably a lot more.
