Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord

Oh I know, it's just I spent the first many hours of having a kingdom, working to wipe out the sturgians, and now plenty of factions aren't too keen on me...

Beta 1.3 makes some huge changes, think I'm going to start fresh. Think I'm going to attempt a charm/leadership/trade/tactics character again, as physical skills are easier to level quite often, and have less impact that I've noticed in my play throughs. Not completely ignore the physical, but try and be a king, rather than a warrior.
I think I may try a Battanian Bandit next time and just go around causing havoc to see where it gets me.

Oh wow there are some amazing mode coming out... check out the new battle realism and stamina ones. There is a German dude called Artem who is now making a weekly mod series.. I highly recommend subscribing to his channel! :)

Like the Total War Mod community the Mount & Blade one is also amazing.

Realistic battle mod yes please. I was surprised stamina was not in the actual game I thought it was in the previous one unless I am thinking of Skyrim or something else.

Also I am watching Jackie Fish quite regularly... he has such a great and engaging style of commentary: https://www.youtube.com/user/Jackiefishhhhhh/videos

The battle realism and stamina ones do look really good.

Not so keen on the fire stuff, definitely not weapons, arrows in sieges perhaps, but open battles? Wonder if there's an option to set it for siege only.

Yeah the fire one is a bit silly. I think you can configure it though to make it more realistic (no swords etc).

Anyone noticed cracked or rusty items you have suddenly becoming normal over time? I wonder if it’s a bug or supposed to happen.

I tend to find that looters give me mainly rusty items now. Never saw one pre-latest update.

Also before the update I would find battered kite shield (which has the best specs in the game for me of any shield I've come across with 480 hit points?? ) ... however, since the update I now find a lot of "battered battered kite shields"

I just had an epic battle with 1,291 enemies against my 487 (mostly veteran) units. We won, and only 157 of my men died (plus another hundred or so wounded. I slew 29 myself before falling (horse archer shooting massed infantry in the rear, so maybe not as impressive as it initially sounds).

One problem. The game crashed on the loading screen out.:(

I’ve always gotten rusty, battered items from Looters on all of the patches which is understandable given they’re so easy to kill. The good stuff comes from professional armies and hire tier bandits though it’s quicker to just buy the items than hope for a drop.

The best kite shield is under 8k once you max out your workshops as long as you pick the correct ones in the right location money is easy to come by. Add winning battles against professional armies and you’ll be raking it in.

I think that as this game progresses they will have to make it more difficult. Armies are too easy to keep together by spamming food and influence and when you have 1000+ armies then taking castles is a piece of cake without doing much and just letting the AI do the work.

In future I want to see some balancing that makes penalties for big armies more harsh and that gives castle defenders more bonuses to reflect the fact that taking one is hell. The battering ram is too quick to break down the outer door and the fact the inner door can be broken with a sword banging on it repeatedly in a minute or two is to me just ridiculous.

I want taking a well developed and defended castle from a strong opponent to be a costly and grueling endeavour that not only makes you think twice about taking it but that makes you forced to recover and defend it before you can move on to the next one.

A lot of the game is over to quickly at present. Take the battles after the initial charge by the AI if they even make it to your infantry line where soon in retreat.

sieges are pretty broken at present. AI defenders just falling, jumping over walls. Your men only using one ladder on the siege engine etc.

Luckily we have mods and I can’t wait for the overhaul ones in the future.

saying all of that we're still in early access so you know.

Part of it is balancing, not just AI. And yes, there are some amazing mods already which make things more challenging and as soon as the game becomes more stable I will start putting more time into it, as currently I have no desire to be manually updating mods on a constant basis and re-starting big saves. The latest patch was a disaster for many people.

We all know it's Early Access is, but there is still no excuse for such bad and obvious bugs and game-breaking flaws when the game is mis-advertised on Steam by the Devs as: "stable but you may encounter some obscure bugs" and sold for the price of a AAA game. Clearly development is behind the standards and quality of where they want it to be at this point.

I presume this is still a Husband and wife team only and for me there’s more in this game than near enough any AAA title from a huge studio. I have not played a game that has had me this hooked in I don’t know how many years and it’ll only get better.

Mods I’ve not bothered with on my first as I previously mentioned and patches I wait for the general public to try it out and report issues before I update which has saved me hassle with the latest patch.

If you are not missing any features (despite economy and diplomacy and missiong being completely broken and lacking) and do not use mods to improve the experience I can only assume that your standard and expectations are not so high. Don't get me wrong, the game is still fun in battles, but it is far from a good all-round experience.

I just hope that people who are piling hundreds of hours into it don't burn yourselves out and stop enjoying it before the full game is released.
