Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord

Ok so randomly stumbled across this game in a YouTube suggestion the other day. Have since bought the game and absolutely loving it.

Question however as I need a bit of help with it - I have joined Vlandia as a vassal and helped them siege a couple of castles - both of which were gifted to me.

However it seems both castles are at a net loss each day by about 400 Denars each. How can I increase the income of each castle and actually start turning round a profit. Right now they're bankrupting me as I'm quite new into the game with only 60 or so troops and not much gold.

The only way I an think of is in the manage castle tab to build all the prosperity and production options which will increase the bound villages. There may be an option that ticks over daily that increases what you need as well I’m not near a city or castle at present to tell you which.

Nasty situation to be in!

No idea if caravans still struggle, but caravans were a good investment before, and workshops can make a decent income too. A couple of good workshops should help offset that loss.

Of course, if you don't have any cash because of the castles, so you can't invest.... Not sure really. Sea raiders have expensive gear sometimes? Look for bandit troops with prisoners, typically they'll have more gear too.

Trading is a good way of making money quickly, buy low sell high etc.

If you can find a couple of towns that are next to each other that have opposite markets you can nip between them selling goods and make money really quickly.

Once that's done get a couple of caravans and setup as many workshops as you can. That will keep the money ticking over.

As for turning the castles income around, make sure you've got everything built to tier 3 and then set it to prosperity, it'll take time but the net loss should turn around (providing the settlements attached aren't getting raided by anyone).

Also if the castle has a high troop count garrison that will be costing you cash. Clear it out if you aren't at war and it's not under threat of being besieged.

Thanks guys for all the replies, unfortunately only just seen them now.

I just waited out the storm pretty much and made sure my associated settlements for each castle were not being constantly raided for a bit and production and profits/taxes eventually increased within the castles. Now got a few workshops and a caravan under my belt. I did have 1 caravan with Gavyn Frostbeard, created another later on with another companion then noticed Gavyn was just staying in a town and the caravan is no longer operational. Anyone know what might have happened here, an actual event or glitch?

Since then Derthert has thankfully not gifted be anymore settlements or castles, despite me leading several armies to take over territory.

Still getting pretty decent performance on my ageing rig too. Rx580 and a proper old school intel i5 2500k. The only time I have problems are on sieges where lots of NPC's on the screen has the frame rate sitting at anywhere from 3-11 (maximum) FPS. I will probably end up upgrading the CPU for this game now.

Attacking other caravans is easy money. Might get item upgrades too, you always get extra horses to move quicker.
Does that give you negative rep with clans even when you’re attacking caravans from factions you’re at war with?

I’ve yet to be able to keep up with an enemy Caravan though.

Do militia also cost money or is it only garrison troops? :)
Pretty sure Militia doesn't cost anything if they did I’d be bankrupt.

I just fill my front line castles and towns with recruits or low tier troops to complement the militia. I noticed if you get besieged and have top tier troops in the castle or town that’s getting besieged you lose loads before you can get to them to help them out. It takes a long time to train top tier troops to lose them like that

I believe garrisoned troops only

More than likely got attacked and defeated in combat.

Beginning to think that might be the way forwards, seeing as attacking armies tend to have 1000 men, even a large good garrison will struggle.

Still not played for a few days, still unsure if to start again, or carry on in the game I have my own kingdom in.

I got 10 lords under me now and all but one faction as my enemy but i am sure they will turn on me also :D

I'm tempted to go for a full wipe approach. I'm currently killing all the sturgians in my main game. Can continue onto others. Problem is, my clan has a limited number of parties, so I can't easily hold more properties without being seriously stretched.

Damn, does that mean my caravan is totally lost and have to pay another 15k for one? I presume I can go and talk to Gavyn and get him to join me again seems as he's not actually dead it seems (?)

Bad news for you, it's actually 18K :p (unless you have the faction reduction) To get him back just go to where he is and a popup will appear telling you a former friend/party member has been seen there. Go to tavern, click your companion and the option will be there to take into party.

Make your own kingdom and persuade the lords to join you so they can manage their own towns and castles.

It becomes easy after you get help from them.

Oh I know, it's just I spent the first many hours of having a kingdom, working to wipe out the sturgians, and now plenty of factions aren't too keen on me...

Beta 1.3 makes some huge changes, think I'm going to start fresh. Think I'm going to attempt a charm/leadership/trade/tactics character again, as physical skills are easier to level quite often, and have less impact that I've noticed in my play throughs. Not completely ignore the physical, but try and be a king, rather than a warrior.

Haha on no. My poor bank balance.

Thanks for the info though, I'll go rescue him tonight!

Think the recent update messed something up, probably the mods I'm using. I loaded it up for the first time in a few days, took one step forward and my scouting levelled from around 30 to 1028, plus went up several base levels as well.

I can now see every party on the map as far as the eye can see lol. That enabled me to see a few looter parties running around 190+ strong
