Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord

Turns out it's down to a known issue. I have to launch Bannerlord.exe manually from the win64_shipping_client folder. So sorted. Except I can't launch any mods as that exe just goes straight to the game, bypassing the launcher.

EDIT: Aaand... back to crashing again. I think I'm up to about 16 error logs sent now? What a waste of £27. Tried everything I can find that might help, and it still crashes randomly.

That's frustrating. I only had 2 crashes in 80hrs of game play and both of them were due to mod update not working properly.

Maybe next time buy the game first on Steam to test it works on your system. If it doesn't refund, if it does refund anyway and buy it cheaper on key site :)

Yeah, would have been wise.

The current crash happens when the banner designer loads. I can't get past there, regardless of settings, game version, mods, GPU drivers, etc.

EDIT: Got past that finally. Now I'm in the really odd situation where the game is running fine, but a crash message will pop up anyway. If I ignore it and move the prompt to the edge of the screen, I can continue playing. It's happened three times now. If I don't click either "Yes" or "No", the game continues running.

I’ve only had a couple of crashes well screen locked and I had to manually close the game in task manager. That was with the patch the other day.

You must have a specific software/hardware configuration that the game hates. If possible send the error logs to the dev for further analysis.

Nothing worse taking a Castle on your own it’s gets given to another Lord I wasn't even in the vote). AI then loses said castle I take it back again and it gets given back to the same Lord (not in the vote again).

The AI has improved quite noticeably since Warband in Tournaments.
Took out a rider and one of the foot soldiers got on the abandoned horse. This never happened in previous versions. Also seen the AI pick up weapons too.

Battle tactics are still a work in progress though.

It's too easy to cheese the tournaments. Providing it's a melee fight that is, which it always tends to be in the later rounds. The biggest challenge in tournaments is if the graphics bug out and you get half the screen blank so you can't see your character. I've even won some when it happens :p

Just constantly strafe to the right around them in a circle whilst swinging, they cannot hit you and you hit them virtually every time

That spoiler has always been the case in Mount & Blade. Tournament prizes are poor anyway though I do them now and again for a change up.

Finally got the game working. Put in hours without a single crash!

Wow. It's a huge step up from Warband. Bugs, unfinished bits, etc. aside, I'm blown away. Going to start a new game tonight, as I used cheats on my current one (just assumed it would crash, so I was messing around).

That mod that let's you hit multiple units in one swing is a bit of a cheese though, isn't it? Battles basically turn in to me running down the back of their engaged infantry, swinging a bloody huge axe :D

If you're swinging a huge axe, with enough pace, you can still hit multiple units without any mods. On horseback especially.

EDIT - Think I'll start a new playthrough tonight. Haven't played for a few days now (trying to get on top of the new home schooling schedule).

Anyone able to answer a question on difficulty? If I'm on 1/3rd damage, does that mean in good armour a lot of the time I'll take no damage, because the armour absorbs it all, or I'll take a little? I guess it depends on how the damage calculator works.

Basically wondering if I might try a companions/family only attempt, but with "easy" damage taken.

You will take a third of whatever damage you would otherwise usually receive. Just divide any number by a third. Except zero. :p

I am obsessed with couching lances, I think it's the most satisfying thing you can do in combat.

OK, third of damage isn't going to give that invincible feeling. Don't want to get too used to easy mode. Might start yet another game, haven't invested much time in the new one.
