Really really worth a watch.
This is exactly it. Those moaning need to understand this is one of those games that bridges the reality of human experiences between virtual and real worlds and this is confusing those players who had one set agenda when starting the game.

It's a complex narrative that not even many films can manage it at all really. Years from now future gaming fans will look back and reference it maybe even as a benchmark on what other games should aim for.

I really hope it pushes other studios forward to try telling stories the same way.

My only gripe with the TLOU games is that they are brutal murder simulators...which aren't a lot of 'fun'. It's like Hellblade, I loved the game, but damn, it's a pretty dark place to spend time. I need some light entertainment afterwards :)

I was fine, for the most part, with the violence until the last scene, which verged on Hostel style torture porn. It wasn't necessary (they'd already had a showdown), didn't add anything (Ellie let her go in the end), made me feel deeply uncomfortable and tbh a little embarrassed. Cutting down an emaciated, dying women from a crucifix and forcing the player to slice her up with a switchblade for a weirdly long period of time of time. While not as bad - the scene was arguably necessary and required for the story - the torture scene earlier in the game that forces the player to push a button for Ellie to act. Why not have to push a button to make Abby repeatedly hit Joel with the golf club before delivering the killing blow? These things step uncomfortably over the line into sadism, potentially force the player into doing something they don't want to do (I would hope!), and should be avoided. Going back to the ending - it particularly pains me as the game did such of good job of making me hate Abby - she killed Joel! - to going full circle to liking her and wanting Ellie dead - crazy, damaged pyscho - to forgiving Ellie - baby/farm ptsd secene - and was all set up for the home run. The message of revenge and hate told masterfully. They could have left it with Abby going to find the Fireflies and Ellie at the farm. They could have had Ellie chase her down, save her and find forgiveness. There's various things Naughty Dog could have done and this is not about wanting a happy ending (as if anything in TLoU could be described as 'happy'). She could have simply cut her down from the crucifix.

As great as TLoU2 is - and it is great - this has tarnished it for me.

So in regards to Abbi, what is it? Is it actually a girl transgendered to a guy? or what? that was the most confusing thing for me. especially in the sex scene when it got bent over, was that because its actually a guy? So confusing.

Are we to believe that a "girl" that was that butch was in fact straight and fancied owen? I really did not understand anything about this characters sexuality, and a lot of stuff in this regard felt cringe worthy..

Also in regards to every other "female" character why were they so ugly? its like the set out to make them all as ugly as possible.

Now im not gay, but owen looked like a fairly good looking dude, but yet he is with Mel who is well.... fugly. and also attracted to Abbi, who is basically a bloke.

Also in regards to trans, the scar "girl" who decided to become a boy and shave her hair. Yet another sexuality thing.

Now im not against anything like this, but when they decide to make all the women into men i have to ask why, and what was the point?

Other then the points above i had no other issues with the game. Just felt like everything was "forced" in regards to LGBT stuff and had no place.

can't really be bothered to read any posts past this because this is the PINNACLE of bigoted bs trying to masquerade as something that isn't.

Bigoted may be a little harsh, but yeah, I can't relate to anything brightside brought up. I go to a gym and see women that big. They're roided up, but it's not that weird. Looking at the faciltities and gym the WLF had, it's not surprising. Especially in the LToU's harsh world where being physically strong would be a massive advantage. The rest about ugly women is just plain weird. Basically, they don't have makeup on in a post apocalyptic world.

I don't mind the violence. It's the reality of the world the characters are in and it is survival of the fittest,

I don't 'mind' it in the TLOU2....it fits the world.

I would like to see some games offer the same quality that TLOU2 does, but not in a world of sadistic violence though. TLOU is pretty difficult at times.

Story aside, as I didn't like TLOU2's and can't comment on an unreleased game, Ghost of Tsushima is looking amazing so far.

I don't expect much in the way of characters and story from Ghosts of Tsushima. Visuals aren't comparable either.

Looks like a decent open world game, but I don't expect to it leave a lasting impression like TLOU.

wouldn't say bigoted is "harsh" when the poster calls Abby "it" persistently.

or more specifically, two words after you decided to stop reading.

I think he is being diplomatic. What Wardie meant to say is:

"Hey, incel, shut up. You're never going to get a bit tiddied waifu if you don't shower, leave your mummy's teats and crawl out of your basement. Hell, you're scared of anything with a vagina because they find you repulsive. Even the ginger girl with braces and glasses bullied you."

Or something...

Edit: To be clear, it wasn't aimed at "Lovejoy!" as you're reasonable given the demographics of this forum :p

You can see what happened, someone saw the leaked footage and went to 4chan or wherever these people hang out these days and summarised thus :

Joel gets killed by a FTM transexual at the beginning of the game.
You spend the second half of the game playing as the transexual hunting down Ellie, with their young kid sidekick, who also turns out to be transexual.

Nevermind that this isn't true, at this point they are well and truly triggered, and thus the Gaming Justice Warriors begin their latest crusade....review bombs, yadda yadda.
