BMW and M Power Owners

oh i meant come back as in hit by a stone again.

I don’t tend to get Stone chips in my cars so guess I’m lucky, got unlucky with SVR as got one in first week but it was big and on bonnet edge so was easy to sort and never got another after that.

EVO Magazine didn't give the M340i a glowing report in the handling/driver appeal department. I haven't managed to find another review that agrees with them.

It depends what you compare it to, I driven the pre facelift petrol S4, C43 and the M340i the M340i handles the best out of them with the best engine. To a proper sports car the handling isn't great and I've still to drive a car with electric power steering that offers good feedback in this front BMWs are pretty poor can feel like a video game at times.

Yes, I know that, it integrates just fine with the trucks....
That’s no different to Bluetooth. Fox is talking about Apple graphics and GUI.

Because that's music not navigation instructions...

  • iPhones integrate with the infotainment system in Scania trucks
  • Easy connection, mirrors Apple devices seamlessly
  • Allows for voice commands via Siri
  • Easy access to apps and other functions such as phone, music, messages and maps
  • Everything from the phone to the navigation tool can be used without having to look away from the road

This is super odd. I share Fox's frustration.

Surely you are aware of most single screen cars and applecarply on that single car screen just like your truck.

This is Apple Carplay like most cars, on the screen - The Velar and Evoque do benefit from the second screen allowing other controls without having to jump out of Apple Carplay - still no integration with Apple Carplay on other screens as the API is single main screen only - Its brilliant.

On a similar truck theme, this is slightly better below. The screen still has controls for the car in addition to Apple Carplay aswell as the hard buttons below.

Ideally when you use Apple Carplay the best would be able to jump out and do other things whilst Nav is on ANOTHER screen, mainly the instrument cluster and even better HUD.

This is the only in car tech which actually interests me whatsoever. Carplay over multiple screens suddenly makes the in car system relevant. Looking forward to it in about 5 years time when i'll eventually buy into a car with it :p

Do ANY cars integrate CarPlay and/or Android Auto into the HUD at the moment?

No, I think that was the point being made, there was no API to do so until very recently. It seems generally anything being displayed anywhere other than the primary infotainment screen is being done so be effectively replicating what could be shown via bluetooth media for example.

Went to go get petrol for a track day on Monday and I manaaged to get half a mile down the lane before the the EML started flashing like crazy and the car sounded lumpy.

It's thrown 4 codes, 1 is a multiple cylinder misfire and the other 3 are individual cylinder misfire codes. They're not the same codes if I clear and restart the car though so I'm assuming it's some sort of electrical issue?

It's an E53 X5 if anyone knows of anything that may help as at the moment it looks like I won't be goign to Donington Park on Monday :(
