That would be terrible imo, 100 dollar price drop on a 2080s.

Yes that is a problem I just cant see that lost ground being made up in one generation we are going to have to live with that for a while yet, maybe it will create more console customers as result seem inevitable at this point

None of that pricing makes a lick of sense, it's saying that at $750 you will get 40% more than a 2080ti but $600 gets you 20% slower than a 2080ti... aye??

I mean I'd love it if someone was offering me a GPU for just $150 more for 60% faster GPU but that's not going to happen

You won't be getting anywhere near 2080ti +40% for £750 you might just about get the 2080ti +5% at that price point with 2080super +10% coming in around £550. Nvidia will want to give you as little performance as possible while charging you the most they can.

4K cards carry a price premium either brand.
Its a few % that buys cards above 700 euros anyhow.
All amd needs with Big Navi to be in the ballpark with the 3090 and they can have a halo 1200euro card also
then set next 2 cards around a 900 and 700 pricepoints.
The 700euro card offers the upgrade for anyone with Navi, Vega cards the main customer groups.
(todays 2080ti performance)
The other cards are for those few % that buys those for whatever reasons.

Its not perfect but the new NAVI cards will offer more features with RDNA2 than GCN, quasi-raytracing with whatever the consoles have up their sleeve, launch price is high then will creep lower.. I dunno are you saying you would buy a 2080S over an AMD card that is superior (nvidia stop caring about older gen stuff rather sharpish compared to AMD - dont deny it) and its going to be cheaper?

You will be able to get a powerful option its just gonna cost more..

The 5700XT isnt going to disappear, it may drop to £300 to make way for higher tiers which is why Im saying there will be an entry 6000 (whatever they name it) slotting in. Just look at the launch price of the 5600XT is was same as a 5700 but now available for £250.

Hence why Nvidia made nearly 66% margin 12 months ago with 2/3 gaming revenue and is still making massive margins despite spending billions of Dollars on buying Mellanox. Turing wasn't as expensive to make as people thought and AMD margins are also fast going up too.

Also think about it, once the cards start going toe-to-toe the pressure will be on the @Gibbo 's to start offering the deals on them. Both brands will adjust, its just unfortunate the ceiling was so high to begin with thanks to the top tier cards from nvidia.

you are paying more for less silicon so yes i say it does, you can talk hypothetically all you want it makes no difference..
