Did some googling. Sounds like early-mid Nov for console launches. Are we really going to have to wait that long? Pffffff

I think we are, there is never anything urgent about AMD, they are quite happy to let the competition hoover up all the new tech early adopters.

Unfortunately, you are absolutely right. AMD have a habit of sitting on the sidelines while Nvidia hog the limelight.

I wish for once that AMD would take a leaf from Intel or Nvidia's playbook and drop some teasers around the launch of Ampere that might make a few consumers put their wallets away or at least make them pause for thought :P

What they least they could do is release Zen 3 alongside Ampere, if they are contracted to release RDNA2 no sooner than the consoles they should at least take advantage of all the hype around Ampere and cash in on people upgrading their systems for Ampere.

256 pages long and not one shred of confirmed info, 256 pages of literal waffle. How many pages did the Polaris thread get to before the 480 was revealed it cant be as big as this, that was so disappointing at least this thread has less hype and more apprehensiveness :)

If they were smart they would set a date for their announcement on 2nd September to put some doubt in the early adopters mind, even if the announcement didn’t actually happen until October or early November.

@Relentless81 - it’s nearly 500 pages of speculation and argument on the Ampere thread.

Yeah, or something, this silence is painful. we need some tangible info, feed us AMD FEED ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's not always the case, the Radeon HD7000 series came out 3 months before the GTX Kepler GPU and that was with a new process node, brand new architecture and ISA. It was only really Vega (effectively just big Polaris with a few bells and whistles added on for HPC users) that was super later to the party.

IMO AMD won't shift many cards if they only offer 8% better performance for the same price, AMD needs to be aggressive with pricing to counter Nvidia's mind share (although given the rumoured prices of the new cards I wonder if the mind share will be enough to carry them through this generation given the lacklustre reaction to Turing).

AMD should leak a 16pin connector and glue a fan and a pciex16 connector onto a glowing red-hot ceramic brick, then release it 31st August saying "is this really what you want? Maybe there's a better way" No NDA breaches, but keeps things going. Just as long as theirs actually works and runs cool. It fails if it turns out to be a hot pig later on.

All ideas reserved no using them without permission. AMD marketing contact me if you want some help with your launch. You should find my rates quite reasonable. ;)

Good Grief... lol Raja was sacked, as funny as that is AMD could do with not going back to this sort of nonsense marketing, that's now Intel's job. They are stuck with him.

Is anyone else still on a Vega GPU and hovered over the buy button on a 5700XT more times than what is deemed mentally healthy or is that just me?

I'm adding to the waffle now

No but i did that while on a GTX 1070, it was Star Citizen when they added New Babbage on MicroTech to the game, i was on the Metro Line going from Aspire Grand to the Spaceport and getting 16 FPS with 99% GPU load, i needed a lot more umph to get out of this slideshow, i came out of the game and begged Gibbo to do me a deal on a 5700XT, he did, no more slide show.... i'm happy.

no. 5700xt is not a big enough jump.
evening wondering if navi21 is... or whether my vega64 can do another 15 months until RDNA3 chiplet goodness arrives.
