AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

They can keep their £500 toys! I'm much more interested in if we're going to see something better than the 1660 Super for ~£200 by the end of the year.

Big jump from NVIDIA, makes my 2080 look like a poor buy. Did get 2 years out of it though. Now waiting for AMD’s hand.

Hoping they pull a magic trick tbh and beat NVIDIA in raster + RT. Would be nice to have options again and more excitement between brands / products instead of a one way only.

Was gonna skip this gen and just buy consoles but if these are the kind of jumps to expect i might not resist upgrading my GPU too next year.

Calling my post "one of the most sensible ones in a while" then editing to "nvm" ? Why, because you noticed my user name? :(

Not sure why you thought i was an NV fanboy in the first place. I'm honestly completely partial, had AMD in the past when they competed (4870 etc). I have no brand loyalty, only thing im interested in is performance/features and whatnot. Price, not so much, but it's somewhat relevant as well.

I'm the most cynical person here when it comes to Nvidia ( @Gregster will tell you that) But I'm actually totally sold on the 3080. Like I said, looks like it will be the new 970. It looks like a great card for the money.

Sorry bud, it was a joke that backfired. I was actually quoting queamin's empty post, but because it was empty the actual quote block didn't show up. Since the context of the joke was lost, and you can't delete posts, I edited. There was no intended connection to you.

However, the inadvertent comment does stand: your post is one of the most sensible things posted in a while :p

It isn't the new 970. It costs twice as much.

It is the new 1080Ti. Performance jumps are back, without the massive price hikes and so on. You're just excited because the price seems so much better. When you consider that one of the new consoles will cost you less and pretty much do the same thing? it doesn't feel like such a great deal after all.

It offers 4k 60. Assuming of course you even game at 4k. If you don't? it is pointless.

Oh i see, sorry then :)

Unless Nvidia release tomorrow... Don't care. I want to upgrade now. And I like what I see. AMD will get my money soon anyway when they release their new CPU's.

You mean like the GTX200 series owners who liked what they saw,and then the HD4870 released, and the price tumbled? GTX200 series was massively powerful too.

I don't understand your logic at all. You keep a GPU for years, and panic buy for the sake of not seeing the whole competitive stack?? Without seeing reviews? During the tail end of summer?

Literally a month maybe?

I think Nvidia has surpassed Apple in marketing strength.

It shows you how much power JHH presenting from is kitchen has - they should have done it earlier!

When Nvidia has something out first people panic buy Nvidia GPUs. When AMD/ATI had something out first even if its amazing, people will wait.

Happened with the FX(despite the 9700 PRO being amazing) and happened for Fermi(upto 9 months if you wanted a midrange one).

If they release tidbits they get accused of hyping,if they don't then its them not hyping.

Its why I think sometimes I agree with them concentrating on consoles,as they don't need to care what people think.

The performance numbers from 3080 on DF website show that its very unlikely AMD can compete with 3090, that thing will be monster.
Its exactly as I predicted navi will be a 3080 competitor or if lucky sit between 3080 and 3090, but its fairly obvious now Nvidia will release another card that will sit
in between 3080 and 3090, maybe a 3080Ti with less ran but same gpu as 3090. They need a £1000-£1200 card 3090 is too expensive.

3080 at £649 is a great performing card potentiall 25-30% faster than 2080Ti, good value for money, hard to beat by AMD. NVIDIA have come out swinging and no noise from AMD.
