Agreed, shame AMD are about as savvy as a brick.
To be far since Lisa took more control they been better.
Yes, because desktop gaming graphics cards is all AMD sell2% down and it will continue to go down until a solid timeframe for the new gfx is released.
Time to short that sucker. Before 2021 is just not good enough....
Exactly that in rthe CPU market over the next 12 months AMD will rul most home users rigs and with Threadripper they've proven that at the extreme end they can cut it... so long may that continue. Now they just need something out in GPU's and I believe they'll have something that will be around the 3070 performance but not the 3080 unfortunatley, but hey, if the price is right... they have a market. I've been very impressed with the 5700XT since I've owned one, not had a problem with it, reliable, drivers been sound for me personally and been playing everything I want at 4k nicely... hpefully AMD have something in the bag but I never EVER had any thoughts they would beat performance wise either the 3090/titan equiv or the 3080 from day one... just cannoty ever seeing that... and that's nto a problem... as that's not where the market share is... the market share is 3070 down SO they HAVE TO BE COMPETATIVE THERE... and the only way they can is to have a 3070 beater around £100 cheaper, if they can do that they've done their job this time around... and will allow them more R&D funding... bear in mind AMD have been so far off nVidia since the 295X2 (which imho was awesome and gfastest card out there for some time with the right games, I had two of them lol in quad fire then downgraded to tri which worked better tbh)... so why would we think AMD can come from wayyy behind and then better nVidia in one swoop with less R&D... it's like asking a sprinter to win 100m gold staring 20m back...To be far since Lisa took more control they been better.
Yes, because desktop gaming graphics cards is all AMD sell![]()

So, based on this, AMD needs a 3070 equivalent, if they can do that, and undercut nVidia and then have a subsequent stack that performs and undercuts nVidia, then they'll be fine. If they haven't got a 3070 equivalent, then they need to be worried as their market share will drop even lower. Just my opinion really
SO they HAVE TO BE COMPETATIVE THERE... and the only way they can is to have a 3070 beater around £100 cheaper, if they can do that they've done their job this time around
Yeah, he loved the limelight to much. That's been my view of it as well. Raja wasn't untalented but I think he should stick to the datacenter and not be allowed at all when it comes to marketing so the fact that he isn't with AMD is a boon for AMD as they clearly operate differently and that leads to undesirable products. I mean look at Vega 64, up to 13,7 teraflops, a freaking powerhouse in compute performance but gaming... well no reason to kick that dead horse anymore.
I think you missed my point. No but it is part of the business . Hence why 2% is actually quite big.

You defo missed my point.I think you missed my point.
ATI came back from similar situations. Before the ATI R300/9700 PRO they hadn't been the high end for ages, and were essentially written off. The same before the HD4870,as the 2900XT was a disaster and the HD3870 was 4 tiers down on what Nvidia had at the top!
If AMD actually has an 80CU part on 7NM,if they can't beat an RTX3070 and get even close to a RTX3080,something has gone a bit wrong on their side in hardware or software!
What was your point then? You defo missed my point.
If they can get between the 3080 and 3090 with more ram and priced right they do fine but I would like to see the under cut at each stage to shake the market up.
They need to sort out what OEM pair with AMD parts, like in laptops and take more control over that, so OEM's don't cut corners on AMD laptops as it makes AMD look bad and tanks performance.

Pish and tosh. 2% is nothing, and just goes to showthe industry's and market's opinion of AMD's dGPU business. Zen 3 taking Intel's last accoldae will increase share value by more than 2%, the console sales will likely impact too. Samsung delivering RDNA 2-equipped products will probably cause a massive leap for AMD value too.2% down and it will continue to go down until a solid timeframe for the new gfx is released.
